A LOL Moment

Oh my goodness.
So embarassingly funny!
I was phoning UBC bookstore to get a hold of the guy who hires cashiers and my aunt gave me the main operator line so I had to ask to be directed to him. His name was Carrie, and I knew his last name started with a B... and for some reason, I thought his last name was Bradshaw. I was like "hm. Yea that name sounds familiar.."

Operator: Hello UBC Bookstore, how many I help you.
Me: Hi, can you patch me to Carrie please?
Operator: Who?
Me: Carrie.... I think his last name is Bradshaw.
Operator: I don't know of anyone named Carrie Bradshaw here...
Me: Oh. Hmm I think that's his last name. Up in the office?
Operator: No...
Me: He replaced Sandra a while ago.
Operator: OH Carrie Boltsby (or something like that). Ok I'll patch you through. I think Carrie Bradshaw is one of the characters in Sex In The City.
Me: HAHA Ooooo how embarassing!

Anyway he was out to lunch, but hah!
Ok I'm off to school now... boooo

Motivated Noodles

This has got to be THE laziest semester yet for me. I mean, c’mon. I only have 3 days of classes every week and one of those days is only for 2 hours! And on the days I don’t have school while others do, I wake up whenever I want and don’t really start working until a few hours later. My grades aren’t bad now, but I have a feeling when finals hit, I’m gonna drown… (especially since every final is worth so much) UNLESS I start working REALLY hard now.

Which is what I plan to do. I’m so motivated! TV can really do that to you haha -- at least for the hour after.

Yea it has finally REALLY hit me that if you want to get what you want, you really actually have to work for it. Nothing comes easy. Yea yea - you think "duhh don't tell me you just discovered that". But this is the first time I really understood that it's totally true. Even if things do come easily for you, nothing beats the satisfaction and the proud feeling you have once you accomplish something as a result of your hard work.

So hwyting! がんばって! (Ganbatte!)

Core Course: Bowl Noodles 101
Prerequisite: A digestive system, eyes, and a pair of hands

Today I'm going to teach you how to make Taiwanese style bowl noodles. I've never seen square noodle packages quite like this one before. I bought this one at the convenience store at Chien Tan (the campus we stayed at in Taiwan). They're pretty cheap cheap cheap! I usually try to avoid bowl noodles 'cause, well, they aren't the healthiest with all their preservatives and MSG, but you (well, at least I) got sick of the food they served on campus:
The same breakfast every day... plain watery congee, peanuts, jie (don't know what it's called in English), cold egg, plain bun (what's it called? mandu? isn't that Korean for dumpling?), and some mushroom.

Not to mention everyone gets their rice/congee from one of these communal vats. haha that's Roger - before I knew him.

or a lunch with a bunch of deep fried food, wood chip broccoli, and dry oranges. Don't know why Davis looks so happy in the background.... Once, I thought I was having a chicken nugget and it turned out to be some sweet potato dessert-type thing mixed with niblet corn. They try to trick us, I'm telling ya.

Anyway, I love trying new things and wanted to try the cheap snacks we can't find easily at home like:
Vanilla and Chocolate Ritz Crackers (Vanilla wasn't so great, but the chocolate was YUMMO),

Mr. Brown's coffee that got me through the morning Mandarin and Chinese Painting classes,

A mini ROOT SARS (Root Beer) can from the vending machine. The name is such a turn-off, isn't it. FYI, Sars is the Australian Root Beer,
or my favourite, Seaweed Lays (that didn't taste like seaweed at all).
Ok back to the bowl noodle. This one is different because you pour out the water and eat it "dry". Tasty stuff. They had an impressive variety of bowl noodles there. Nothing like our cheap kimchi ones. The one I will use to demonstrate is pretty rudimentary and will seem like nothing - especially compared to some Jap bowl noodles I bet!

Tada! This is the package! Oishii soudesu (looks tasty). It comes with detailed instructions (in English too!) on how to prepare your noodles.

What's inside - pretty basic... and yes, it comes with a fork.

Dump in the dry stuff and pour HOT HOT HOT water in it. Doesn't matter how much you put in - as long as it doesn't spill over.

Cover the noodles with the lid for the time specified (3-5 min). Put the sauce package on top to warm it up. Makes it extra tasty. hehe.. j/k

Open the vents and pour the water out. This keeps all the dry stuff inside.
(I got my dad to pour it out while I took the picture.)

Pour the remaining ingredients into the dry noodles and go stir crazy.

Now it's ready to eat! Yum. Sort of reminds you of those noodles Koreans eat on Black Day (Valentines Day for loveless people), doesn't it?

Ok so it doesn't look as good as it tasted... I wish I had a neat one to show you. Some give you another package to make soup in the bowl after you've finished eating the noodles! I saw these square types in Hong Kong too.

Whooa it's 3:36AM. Bed time! I'm so awake...

Just Frost

Junsu and Boa

My hair is making me look like a hobo.
Plushy

When I went down to the States a few Fridays ago w/ Nad, I was so amazed at how soft the fake fur coats were! They’re so ridiculous but I just felt I HAD to try one on. I felt like I was going to some Hollywood event in 1960! Anyway, I went to the changing rooms to check myself out and this girl did a double take haha it was funny… I just couldn’t help but pet it…

A couple good deals I want to take advantage of:

* Nad introduced me to visaperks.ca - some discounts for Visa-users. The one I like the most is for Amazon.ca : Buy over $39CDN worth and get $10 off AND free shipping. Coupon HERE. It's just too bad Amazon.ca only has books/videos/dvds... not as good as Amazon.com.

* Beautymark.ca is also providing free shipping for all orders until December 12th (it'll arrive before Xmas if you do). You can also check out the store on 103-1120 HAMILTON STREET,Vancouver.

Snow already! No chotto matte kudasai (wait a little please!)!! Let me get boots first.

"In Korea, the first snow of the year is a romantic event. If you're a couple and you happen to be meeting together at just that moment, it's the sort of thing that might require a kiss, or if apart, at least a phone call or text message."

I found this site called Schtickers where you can buy laptop skins/stickers that are easy to apply and remove for around $20. They claim that it's an instant makeover for your laptop. My laptop cover is pretty scratched up and there's this mug stain on it (no idea how that got there). They have a pretty good collection but you can also design your own.
Here's a few examples:
Sushi

Van Gogh's Almond Blossom
Banksy - There Is Always Hope
I do realize my blogs are probably hard to follow. I have no flow and they're usually full of random things that aren't remotely related.
Bienay (sorry).

I just found the "preview" button that let's me preview my blog before I publish it. haha it was there all along.

Got my Visa statement today. YesStyle still hasn't charged me for the items M and I bought... hmm.. maybe they forgot? It's been over a month since I've gotten it and B's items showed up on my last statement. It'd be nice if it was like the AE dress I bought from the States... they only charged me $5 for the dress and duty =|

Next semester I'm gonna be working - most probably at the UBC bookstore as cashier and once in a while @ my Auntie Liz's office doing basic secretarial work.

You know, there are so many pretty girls out there and at first glance, I feel in awe - lucky them! But once you discover their horrible personality (that unfortunately so many of them have), the awe of turns into sorry. I feel sorry that their looks are wasted with such a personality. It's really too bad.

Warning: Picture Overload

Some scans of Bonjour Paris were released yesterday. Part of the $150 worth of amazing photos. Sigh. They haven't come out with many HQ photos yet though:

Today's ADORATIONSYesStyle: Love love love this coat by PEGGY (South Korea): 3/4 Sleeve Fluffy Coat with Wide Belt [$75]
***
WhoWhatWearDaily just did a blog on Gossip Girl: "What She Was Wearing". Is it me or don't you think all the members of Dan and Jenny's family are pretty darn good looking? I mean, compared to the other families. Nate's family just looks funny.
***
The next few pictures are from The Sartorialist - I've collected quite a few of his photos that have concepts and elements I'd like to incorporate into my wardrobe. Most of these were from the spring, summer, and early fall. Another thing I like about his pictures is how effortless (and confident) the girls look.

A simple jumper. Such an easy piece to wear and casual chic. She looks abs. terrific.I wanted to strip this next girl from her clothes and run away with it (well, I'd generously give her back her fake LV). Her outfit looks so put together! Vest under long cardi? Nice. This lady has the perfect pair of legs for me. It's fiduddling how Sart manages to take some of these photos. I wouldn't have given that light coat a 2nd look on the rack but it looks good on her.
Sart has influenced me to think girls on these types of bikes have this special aura about them. That's cool.
I think she's some high-profile editor - this was taken last year or even a couple years ago. I thought the little ribbon waist tie was a nice touch. I also think I like the pattern. I think b/c I can't really see it, but it looks good.
Great dress! Come on it looks like she threw it on and walked out the door. Love it. Only thing is that I don't really like where that bottom burst is located haha
Can't really tell you why I like this next photo. Something about it.Some 90's grunge a la dancer? This one was taken about a week ago. Booo NY - they still have warm weather! I'm jealous. Love the cardi-wrap + colour!
Many ppl ooooed and aaaahed over this outfit. I thought the skirt was a little too plain and short for this lady, but I did very much love the plaid button-up and prep school blazer combo -- especially the blazer with the crest. I want one.
Junsu wears one in Bonjour! Paris: This lady's style is breathtaking. Sart has taken many many many pics of her in the past (in Italy). She's one crazy thin old Italian fashion editor or something. Her coat! Wow.(Hmm common themes here? Solid, neutral/classic colours, minimal pattern, dresses, flow, heels)
It's so true. NY is such a great place when it comes to fashion. I've also noticed Parisians are very very well dressed too - as are Italian men. People really don't care what they look like and wear whatever they want it seems.. and they just happen to look so good. Vancouverites think a little too much when it comes to fashion and aren't as carefree as NYers. We should all stop caring so much. I admit I think I care. Hmm new year's resolution to not care? Yea. Good idea - let's all follow Bern's motto: Love it, Wear it, Rock it... [my add-on: as long as it's somewhat stylish.. but who's to say what's stylish or not?] Hmm could be a bad idea for some ppl though... maybe us Vancouverites are just trained improperly when it comes to style. Style is so hard to pinpoint -- so many diff. definitions. It's the way someone carries themselves... but that's usually as a result of the way they were brought up to be/dress. You know what - just wear what you wear with confidence (no midriff please) - got that? Okay! Onwards!

I need more jeans. I only have skinnies. Skinnies don't go with the shoes I have 'cause I got duck feet. Maybe I need more shoes. Yea I do, I need boots, but I need more jeans too.
Anyway, LOVE how these jeans look on the lady in black. It's an actual boot cut style. She looks short and petite and has a great proportion to her. It will look quite different on me.
Just looked out the window - snow on the ground! **********
Now I really really really need boots. Yay and darn.

Neat-o! It's fun to know that people from around the world have visited your blog - even if it was for a split second, by accident, or by randomly clicking next blog>> on blogspot.
Thanks for visiting!

On The 35th Day of Xmas I Hope My True Love Gets For Me:

I've run out of material things for my 43 days of Xmas so I've decided to post what I really only truly want this Xmas.. and every Xmas after.

Either the following:
--> HanKyung (from Super Junior, 13 member male Kpop group) teaching me Mandarin and how to dance ('cause he's an excellent dancer), and cook Beijing Fried Rice (difficult to find a really good pic of this guy - he's looks so much better in action)
--> Traveling , hanging out, and a crazy photo booth session with Lee Hom
Old pic, but just use photoshop to replace that guy on the left with me.
You know I'd complete the picture LOL

--> Tim oppa serenading me with his ballads (TIM SARANG!!!!!)
This short clip is over a year old, but it's of him singing Saranghamnida (superfamoussong) on Xman. B had this clip on her site a few days ago!
****
Choayo!! And here's him singing his rendition of Over The Rainbow

--> AND a picture with Daniel Henney (suit or no suit) just standing there and looking good... doing what he does best.
Yes, just stand there.
This is a clip of Daniel Henney singing in this cute Kmovie [Seducing Mr. Perfect] B + I watched on the plane.
Daniel Henney and Alex (from Clazziquai): Kissing Me
****

All that OR

--> Junsu
This clip is of him singing Rainy Days - written and composed by himself
****
Oh wait - isn't he my true love anyway?
hee

My mom put a tiny plant in the bathroom my brother and I share. It sits on the back of the toilet, basking in the sun through the windows. But noone ever waters it -- unless my mom does, but I don't think so. Fortunately, it's a hearty plant and is still alive and looking pretty well for being so neglected. haha I just noticed it again today - it has been there for many months.

Oh nooo... that Trench Coat I loved so much from YesStyle is not available anymore! I wanted to get it once they came out with the long coat I was looking for so I could get free shipping. Darn.
A few new things from YesStyle:
I think that coat/sweater in thick sweatshirt material looks cute on the girl but it'd probably look like a cow on me.
This next one might look a bit like Mickey Mouse skirt-style because it 's red and has buttons like Mickey (it's a jumper style with thick suspender-type straps) but if it's worn w/ the cropped blazer, the Mouseyness of it is hidden. It's very similar to this girl's outfit I saw on Wardrobe Remix:
This coat is nice but I don't like the material much... it looks fine from far away. I like the funnel neck and the length and finish of the sleeves.I saw this (Korean?) girl last year wearing something very similar.. and I loved it! This is the Korean coat I'm looking for.. xept this one isn't perfect. I consider it Korean b/c of the fur line that runs down the length of the coat. I want one that's detachable though. (Gosh what's w/ me & fur? I was against it in the past).
This picture was taken from Feetman Seoul (Korean blog that concentrates on Korean street fashion - more specifically, shoes). I like the cut and colour of this dress. I think it'd look nicer on a lankier person, though. This lady is pretty - I love her outfit. You can't see the skirt but it's shaped like a tulip. I think the blouse is very Korean upper-class ajumma-style.Paris Hilton got a Pom in Korea and named it Kimchi. Cute dog, name stealer... haha j/k! If I were to get a dog, I'd get a Pom I think... but I'd rather have a ferret.
I'm strangely extremely awake -- it's 2AM and I'm going through my Jap te-form flashcards I made. I can't seem to remember all those verbs that start with tsu.... I get them all mixed up!
