I actually kept my word and stayed at the library from 10AM to 8:30PM! Whoooa - I like it there. I think I'll spend a lot more time there next semester. It'll be my other home.
Why is it that I always look forward to the next semester during final time? I don't want to study for finals... even though I do like studying actually - I just don't like knowing that I have to take an exam to prove how well I studied. But anyway, right now I just feel like starting the next semester (even if that means no Xmas) and getting my readings for English and Geography and going to the library to read them haha I'm really looking forward to that -- so weird (isanghae, remember?). No finals....

I went to my GIS class today - it was finally interesting! We talked about our privacy (or prihvacy as my British prof says) and how it's taken away from us when we sign up for things such as the Safeway Card... and how the store then has your personal information and can track you down. You give away your privacy for discounts. Apparently some people have received e-mails from AE in the past saying "we've noticed you haven't dropped by the store since __(insert date here)___. Here are a few sales.." whoa. And how the CIA has all our information. Apparently they're in the process of making some system that can identify people by the way they walk b/c apparently, each walk is as distinctive as a fingerprint! Butchea - it all depends on how much you value your privacy. Scary. In a few years, you'll be able to zoom in really closely to see what people wear on the streets from Google Earth! Xept that info is from about a year before -- they'll need another few more years to make it more up-to-date. Cool eh? Then I photocopied my Jap flyer and skytrained out to Surrey Central to practice for my Jap oral... ended up going to White Spot soon after instead. Orals started at 4:50 I think. Mine was at 6:40! It was a 1 on 1. Oh well I sort of practiced and the ones that went before came back from their oral and told us what they were asked. A'course my sensei is smart and had 6 different sets of questions (20 each) so the exact questions wouldn't get passed around. I was lucky to get the ones that the previous people shared so I had a general idea. I did alright. 80%. Wasn't as nervous as I was going into it. Yay it's over! You don't know how worried I was last week about it. I finally got to sit down and study it for 2 days over the weekend. Hope to do alright on the final... not really gonna study for it. Really need to concentrate on other classes now... I don't remember what I planned to do after I got home from Jap, but M picked me up and stayed for a while. We watched her piano pieces and this guy play this Scherzo? on a concert grand! Wow. I have a lot of favourites when it comes to DBSK. Favourite songs, fav personalities... etc. Here's one of my favourite old school Junsu solos. The song is Chae Nhum, originally sang by Big Mama... never heard the original though. haha don't mind the hair. ** Se7en also sings the same song HERE -- a bit of a different feel - I didn't know he could go that high! haha

I think I have some sort of rheumatism in my forearms... time for bed. I'm going to school to work on my Badger GIS project... or try to.. for 5 hours. Oh my mom bought me a mattress heater! My parents have one for their bed... and I'd crawl in sometimes when I was cold. It heats my whole bed so it's all warm before I hop into bed. No more cold feet! Yay Oyasuminasai! N
Bright/hot pink is turning out to be my least favourite colour for clothes for those past 13 years of age. After seeing this dress on Jeon Do Yeon (who won best actress @ the 28th Blue Dragon Film Awards), I dislike it even more. Did she miss out on buying her dream prom dress or something? That dress just looks like a bad 90's prom dress from Mariposa or something.
Don't get me wrong, I still love brightness of pink for flowers and accessories like cameras, phones, pencils, pillows etc... just not blocks of it (more than a square foot) on pants, t-shirts, sweaters.... jackets... especially gowns. I still think it looks Avril Lavigne circa 2002 -- her Sk8er Boi days mixed with teeny bopperness. See - little bits are fine... like on JaeJoong. I guess it depends on the person wearing it.

The weather is forcing me to decide not to go up to SFU to work on my GIS project. Darn. This project isn't looking good at all. I'm not even 1/4 finished and it's due in 8 days.... maybe I'll concentrate on the writing part instead.
17 day countdown until I can officially start my winter break! Eek that's scary.... kowai... need to start studying! Stupid project...
Coats! I'm obsessed with coats. They are great investments for Canadian weather.
Coats that are dying to be added to my wardrobe: - Short double breasted or toggle wool peacoat (hip length) in navy blue or black (brown toggle) - Long Korean (down) coat with the fur lining the zippers (non rabbit) + hood (a little above the knees) - Long dressy coat in dark gray or black (hard to find b/c of the shoulders...) - A trench - A down coat for the really cold days (quilted insides to keep the down in place) - smooth outside... haven't really seen a nice one - A light spring coat - DC black snowboard jacket (I think this should be 1st priority) - A regular peacoat that's a little longer than my hips. This is a pretty cool coat (YesStyle) - you can change the collar 3 ways! Don't like the material at all though.
The funnel neck is great for cold weather.

I've also seen it on YesStyle. I like how you can just throw it on w/ leggings and boots and there! All set. Keeps you warm too. - Casual longish red peacoat type. More toggles? haha maybe not.. but I saw this Korean girl on the skytrain wear the cutest toggled red coat. I loved it. She was also wearing the Vintage Ralph Lauren Polo Bear sweatshirt I see a lot of Koreans wear. The bears are dressed up in different outfits and do different things like fishing + playing hockey. It's apparently hard to find these days. I don't get it. It's ugly. I remembered seeing JaeJoong wearing a sweatshirt with the bear on it. What was he thinking.
Today, or should I say "yesterday", was an eventful day compared to the school-homework-study routine I've been on. I got M to go on a light jog around Clinton park again w/ D's dogs in the morning. I got Gigi, the energetic Yorkie, and M got bigger and slower Hershey (the dai bao). This time we didn't do as much jogging as we did the 1st time. After showering, D and I headed out to Central library to study and finally found a pretty good spot together - it was quite crowded.. almost all international post-secondary students. I got quite a bit done. [Note to self: next time, suffer the shoulder pain and bring the laptop... those computers are so disgusting.] We were kicked out of the library at 6... forgot they closed so early on Saturdays. Then D and I browsed around PC -- Sport Chek + Holt Renfrew for a bit (while I could be doing some productive studying), waiting for M and B to come downtown so we could go eat Kfood --- met them @ the restaurant: Dae Bak Bon Ga on Robson next to Fogg 'N' Suds on the upper level. We've been there before and really enjoyed their BBQ. It was pretty happening compared to the last time we were there (at a weird lunch-dinner time). Unfortunately, that sort of affected their service (we had to ask for water/tea a few times...), but the food was still quite oishii. Not the cheapest place for Kfood. The bill came out to be around $15/person including tax and tip. We ordered BBQ Combo B ($35) and their seafood pancake ($15). The ajumma (Korean older lady) who we think owns the restaurant looks pretty amazing for her age. She's so thin and dresses so well and her hair and makeup looks perfect. We recognize her from last time - she was very nice too. Saw a ton of Koreans today at the library, downtown, and at the library. Gosh some of them dress SO well.... I'm so jealous of all their coats and boots! I want that Korean Coat darnit!
One thing about eating Korean BBQ is that all your clothes smell like it afterwards.
Theeen, M, B, and I went back to my house and made the night a little more Korean by watching clips and starting to learn the "Tell Me" dance by this new, young, Korean girl group, Wonder Girls. The song is catchy but the singers are quite bad (don't even get me started on the music video...... I'm gonna rate it mozzarella 'cause it's the cheesiest... and so was that rating haha). Apparently this song is super popular in Korea and many of them are trying to learn the dance. I'd post a clip of Wonder Girls dancing to it, but they're really awful and there are others out there who dance their dance better than they do... like these girls we've been trying to copy: ** haha anyway it may look pretty simple, but it's really fast and I'm having the toughest time with it right now! I think this is the first time I've attempted to dance to such a arm-leg coordinated dance. B is writing down all the actions and I'm trying to follow. M had a ball watching my rigid self hahaha!! Let's just say I need a LOT of practice. It's fun learning it and is actually good exercise!
P.S. Bern, we need to take another fur shot - it didn't really turn out.
Hmm Friday... I spent the whole day at school, working on my Badger (GIS) project. GRR. I'll try my best to do as much as I can before it's due, but I can't guarantee it'll totally be complete. Worth 20%. I'll just study really hard for the final. Easier said than done? Maybe... it's my last one and I have Jap the day before!

Whenever I need an instant smile, I play this short 2 min clip of Junsu, Yoochun, and Jaejoong singing their own made up song while in Paris. I just found this one with English Subs... had no idea they said "France", "Paris" and "Eiffel Tower" until I saw it in the subs! haha ** They're fun. I like.
Next week is gonna be stressful with my Jap Oral on Tues and that GIS project....................... Might have to go to school later today, Monday, Wed morning, stay @ school after classes on Thursday, and all of Friday. I'm really hoping I can finish it by Wed and start writing those 5 pages! I have to catch up in a couple classes too... yea I think I might just live at school next week. Might not blog as frequently until after exams.
I hope you're all slathering your lips with some sort of vaseline before you sleep, wearing a min. of SPF 15 sunscreen + moisturizer before you go out even if it's cloudy, and drinking a lot of water!! This weather can be brutal!
Xmas decorations are coming out next week! Will it be tasteful this year? We will see.

The next few pictures are from The Sartorialist - I've collected quite a few of his photos that have concepts and elements I'd like to incorporate into my wardrobe. Most of these were from the spring, summer, and early fall. Another thing I like about his pictures is how effortless (and confident) the girls look.
A simple jumper. Such an easy piece to wear and casual chic. She looks abs. terrific.I wanted to strip this next girl from her clothes and run away with it (well, I'd generously give her back her fake LV). Her outfit looks so put together! Vest under long cardi? Nice.This lady has the perfect pair of legs for me. It's fiduddling how Sart manages to take some of these photos. I wouldn't have given that light coat a 2nd look on the rack but it looks good on her. Sart has influenced me to think girls on these types of bikes have this special aura about them. That's cool. I think she's some high-profile editor - this was taken last year or even a couple years ago. I thought the little ribbon waist tie was a nice touch. I also think I like the pattern. I think b/c I can't really see it, but it looks good. Great dress! Come on it looks like she threw it on and walked out the door. Love it. Only thing is that I don't really like where that bottom burst is located haha Can't really tell you why I like this next photo. Something about it.Some 90's grunge a la dancer? This one was taken about a week ago. Booo NY - they still have warm weather! I'm jealous. Love the cardi-wrap + colour! Many ppl ooooed and aaaahed over this outfit. I thought the skirt was a little too plain and short for this lady, but I did very much love the plaid button-up and prep school blazer combo -- especially the blazer with the crest. I want one.
Junsu wears one in Bonjour! Paris: This lady's style is breathtaking. Sart has taken many many many pics of her in the past (in Italy). She's one crazy thin old Italian fashion editor or something. Her coat! Wow.(Hmm common themes here? Solid, neutral/classic colours, minimal pattern, dresses, flow, heels) It's so true. NY is such a great place when it comes to fashion. I've also noticed Parisians are very very well dressed too - as are Italian men. People really don't care what they look like and wear whatever they want it seems.. and they just happen to look so good. Vancouverites think a little too much when it comes to fashion and aren't as carefree as NYers. We should all stop caring so much. I admit I think I care. Hmm new year's resolution to not care? Yea. Good idea - let's all follow Bern's motto: Love it, Wear it, Rock it... [my add-on: as long as it's somewhat stylish.. but who's to say what's stylish or not?] Hmm could be a bad idea for some ppl though... maybe us Vancouverites are just trained improperly when it comes to style. Style is so hard to pinpoint -- so many diff. definitions. It's the way someone carries themselves... but that's usually as a result of the way they were brought up to be/dress. You know what - just wear what you wear with confidence (no midriff please) - got that? Okay! Onwards!
I need more jeans. I only have skinnies. Skinnies don't go with the shoes I have 'cause I got duck feet. Maybe I need more shoes. Yea I do, I need boots, but I need more jeans too. Anyway, LOVE how these jeans look on the lady in black. It's an actual boot cut style. She looks short and petite and has a great proportion to her. It will look quite different on me. Just looked out the window - snow on the ground! ********** Now I really really really need boots. Yay and darn.

Interesting - this is the back plate of the Shine that a fan bought from LG. It looks different than the one I showed you 2 posts ago... a little worse. They spelled "concert" wrong.....
B told me recently that there were new Celebrity Limited Editions of the LG Shine! I have the candybar version (LG Shine Bar KE770) shown above because I couldn't afford the slider. Anyway, I finally remembered to check it out today. When I got my cellphone in Hong Kong, the SA wanted me to get the slider Shine in the Andy Lau Limited Edition version which had some chinese calligraphy engraved on the back. I had no idea who Andy Lau was (now I only know that he's an actor and director), but it was tempting because it looked nice. The picture below is the Andy Lau ad I saw everywhere - I took it while waiting for the MTR in HK.
After looking around online a bit, I found that LG also has the black titanium version: I think it looks quite masculine. There's also a luxurious gold slider version, pink slider version, rhinestone version, and the MetalSkin versions:

TVXQ is DBSK's international nameS.H.E. is a suuuuuuper duper famous Taiwanese group consisting of 3 girls.
I saw their faces everywhere in Taiwan.. on juice boxes... in every 711... in the MRT... posters...I was a little disappointed in the TVXQ one. It's nice but I guess I was expecting something a little classier. LG was probably trying to market towards a younger crowd... (I mean, I know 20 isn't old but I just didn't care much for the kiddy background font).
Shine: Designer Edition
This last one is designed by Li Sang Bong, a renowned Korean fashion designer. It has Korean Hangul Calligraphy etched on the back. "It features the original text of a poem [called "Starry Night"] of Yoon Dong Joo engraved at the back of the mobile phone. FYI, Yoon Dong Joo is known as one of the most beloved poets in Korea."
Looks like scribbles to me... but it's a poem! Now that's classy. If only I knew what it said.
A great idea
Don't you think personalized back plates for this cellphone is such a good idea? I think they should make that available for their customers! I don't know much about the technology and production of engraving these things, but if they're anything like the engraved dog tags/necklaces you can get done at the Richmond Night Market within a couple of hours, it should be easy and cheap. Plus, once consumers know they can personalize their own plate, they might consider shelling out the money for the phone! At least I would.
An Honest Mini Review
I seriously bought this phone within 2 hours the day before I left Hong Kong. B and I browsed through phones in Taiwan and Hong Kong but we weren't serious in buying one so we weren't the most informed about them - we just knew which ones we thought looked nice... and the only one I liked was the $1000 Prada lol So yea - I'm definitely not a gadget girl and I did not research cell phones at all before making the decision to buy it so I was taking a HUGE risk. There's actually not much about my cellphone (the candy bar version) online. It's really not much different than the slider - they're both basically a pretty standard fashion phone with 1GB of internal memory (it came with an extra 1GB microSD card). It's an mp3 player, organizer, voice recorder, video camera, and digital camera (2 mega pixel with "flash"). I was surprised by how many settings the camera had! The one thing that made me most hesitant about buying this phone is that it has only 2 mega pixels. The fact that it's such a new phone and that the normal mega pixel range for a regular digital camera these days is over 7 mega pixels, you'd sort of expect the mega pixels to be more than 2! So the quality of my pictures aren't that great. Another thing that isn't perfect about this phone is the shutter lag. When I take a picture, I always have to hold the phone super still for at least a second longer or else my picture will be blurry. It's a bit annoying and can be difficult especially since the cell phone is so light! Anyway, besides that, the cell phone has other features that make up for it. You can even view your office documents on it. Oh and the bonus feature is that it can be a mirror when the light is off! No need to carry a compact anymore, girls. There are so many chunky (rounded) phones out there these days so I thought it was refreshing finding such a modern, slim, sleek and durable cellphone that had all the functions of the chunky ones. However, like all non-flip phones, the screen is vulnerable to scratches and isn't very pocket-friendly (if you want it to keep it lookin' like new). The back is made out of tough brushed steel. I find it a pretty unisex phone... chic and metropolitanish. The mirror and slimness makes it more attractive for females, but its sleekness and metal casing makes it look impressive on a guy. Like all LG phones and LG products I've tried, it is very user-friendly. Unfortch, LG did not think of people with fat fingers when they made this. The buttons are small and those with large fingertips who have fiddled around with my cell, have found it difficult to punch in numbers. The battery life, on the other hand, is amazing. Sometimes, even when I use it often, I can go almost 4 days without it needing to be recharged! It has bluetooth, wireless, and comes with its own USB cable. I always have my phone on vibrate so I haven't used the ring tones yet. The slider (and I believe flip) version is coming to America soon (for about $400 I've heard), but the candybar version won't. All in all, although the LG Shine Bar is not without flaws, I'm very happy with my purchase and recommend it!
There's a new phone out there from LG - KU990: The Complete Camera Phone that looks like a mix of the Chocolate, Shine, and Prada to me (oOOoo 5 mega pixels!) Check it out HERE.

Challenge: to buy boots Approx 8:15AM - off to the states w/ Nad and her 'rents! Long lineup at the border (1hr plus)-- played w/ Nad's new ipod (has games!) which I still find difficult to use :( ... then headed to Costco while the 'rents got new tires and walked over to TJ Maxx (like a Ross) where I found nothing and Ross where I almost bought a dresser/multi-drawer thingfor $100 (from $130.. reg $250).. got them to give me a bigger discount 'cause it was all scraped up... I wanted to buy it for around $70... anyway, and I found a kawaii Harajuku Lovers belt bag (notmypics)! After lunch at Wendy's, the 'rents dropped Nad and I off at Bellis Fair where we shopped for over 5 hours where we came across free samples... multiple times haha, I tried on a black and gold-chained Guess dress (suki desu), we saw 2 guys wearing identical pink hoodies and jeans, I tried on silver metallic leggings, & we searched for boots. Nooo luck for me =( Nad got a pair of jeans and a couple things for Dims.. and we both ended up buying long basic black leggings from Target! Then we go back to Costco (Costco ga suki desu!) -- their Costco has so much more variety than ours -- the picture on the right is of their wine bottle selection. They also have a cheese section and the HUGE All American 7lbs Chocolate Cake Nad is hiding behind of on the right hahaha After that we went to chow a late 9'oclock dinner at a restaurant called Parrot Sisters in Bellingham. Long lineup - waited for over 30 min I think. See below for picture. It was south western/retro chic. I like the retro touch and all... but it's due for a makeover.
Decent-to-large portions - 6/10 food - not so great service.
WHEW that was one quick post! I haven't shopped like that since August! Sad to say, but I have to build up my shopping stamina (whodathought?) Thanks Nad for today!!
I'll end w/ a couple pics of pics from DBSK's Bonjour Paris Photobooks (daisuki!!! =Love it!) I wonder if they got to climb to the top of the Arc de Triomphe. I loved it up there... it was so magical for me. The sun was setting and the temperature was the most perfect Arc-de-Triomphe temp ever. Forget the Eiffel Tower.. it's overrated - the Arc de Triomphe should be THE place to propose... but shhh don't wanna share the location! Sigh.. I wanna go back. Same with walking across the Brooklyn Bridge in NY during sunset in August.
