[Friday's post]
My aunt gave me a camera today! Another lomo to add to my collection: a CyberSuperSampler.

For this one, one shot produces 4 images in a single print. I loaded a roll of film into it today but I haven't tried it yet. No flash though, so outdoor pics only.

Had lunch with Helen and Lisa ♥
Lisa has inspired me so much to start my own business. Lisa is starting her own dessert place called DOT across from Oakridge (she's renovating it all) and I'm so amazed (she's 20)! She has done all her research over the past year and has set up a business plan and is really setting this up with everything she has and she's still going to school (doing Business)! I'm so proud of her and cannot wait to attend its opening in Feb. Helen and Lisa said I should open up one of those boutiques selling clothes from Asia (concentrating in Korea and Japan)... like the high end, good quality clothes... (there will finally be Vivienne Westwood merch in Vancouver!)... and also sell their make-up and shoes and everything I'm interested in. People don't want items from chain stores -- they want something unique. This is the idea I've had in my mind for a long time now but I was hesitant to actually say it out loud for various reasons.... but to have H&L suggest it for me without me even mentioning my love for shopping/Asian fashion... maybe that's a sign? Plus they gave me some great tips/ideas I could possibly use. This is something I could see myself doing and I'm already dreaming up my business plan (minus the financial stuff, of course)... I just feel really excited and more relieved as if I've been holding my breath for so long and I finally get to exhale... but of course there's a lot to think/research about still.

Lots of laughs at work today - a nice way to end the last day of fun before I crack down on finals (even though it's only a week).

My brother won't let me go to bed because he wants to take a nap and needs to wake up in 1 hour to study. He appointed me to be his waker-upper because his bed is too warm and comfy and he won't wake up to his alarm, but he knows I will force him out of bed. Hmm...

[Edit] 10 minutes after I woke him up, pulled off all his sheets, turned the light on, shone a lamp on his face, and turned off his heating pad, he still wouldn't get up. I did not just stay up another hour for THIS so I filled my hand with ice water. I didn't have to use it. He shot up instantly and murmured thanks. aha!

Time to "AJA" For 10 Days

One of the best parts of the Christmas holidays is that it's mandarin orange season!! I'm eating this one that's the size of my wrist. The sticker on it says "Cuties" in a happy, fat, kiddy font and it has a picture of an orange unzipping itself. Hm is that appropriate?

I've finally caught up with Karla's Closet after a few months away (her website was hiding under my Bookmarks). She's a beautiful girl with such a likeable personality and an amazingly unique yet chic (and brave) wardrobe... not to mention her many pairs of Louboutins + Chanels! She's been cutting her hair shorter and shorter and I think it looks fantastic (though the chin-length cut is my fav.)

Interesting! Topic of GUYLINER = guys + eyeliner on Lovelyish.
Personally, I don't mind it at all - as long as it's for the right guy. I even know a couple of guys at school who wear it sometimes and it really makes their eyes pop subtley. I find guys who have a bit of a prettiness or masculinity to them look even better with eyeliner. It just doesn't seem to work for "cute" ones. I can't seem to find a picture, but, for example, eyeliner on Jaejoong = YES. The same look for Junsu = NO. Since it's not common to wear eyeliner among the general male population, I think it shows confidence and thus ups their attractiveness. Would I date someone who wears eyeliner? Sure -- but I think that should be the extent of make-up use for guys... I'm not sure if I can handle it once they start wearing mascara, bronzer, blush, or gloss... but actually, I think concealer is fine too as long as it's not cakey.

How (not) Nice

Jaejoong's doppleganger ate at the restaurant again today -- he was wearing another toque, this time all black. I got a pretty good look at his face and the distance between his nose and eyes were different.. and his eyes def. weren't as pretty as JJ's... he filled out a comment sheet so it just further confirmed that he wasn't JJ from his name hahaha (said his waitress was cute [not me]). Eye wanderer. Had some other very talkative and interesting customers today (in a good way)... including my TA from Geo! lol

I don't understand why and how certain people can just be so not nice! Isn't is so much easier, more fun, and less complicated to be friendly to all those around you? Is it so hard to reply in a nicer tone? In a nicer way? Je n'aime pas. Ew to you. You are so fake.

You know, the one lesson that seems to come up over and over again, and one that seems to bite ppl in the long run is to just give people a chance. Get to know them before you decide what sort of person they are and how you should react accordingly. There's so much you don't know about them and people in general aren't bad eggs. They just become like that because of those who don't give them a chance before getting to know them. The homeless are a great example.

So exhausted... last day of school tomorrow... yippeeeee!

Oh what? I haven't blogged since Tuesday?

On Thursday, M and I babysat my cousins Emerald and Triton while my Aunt + Uncle went out for dinner! Em + us went out for dinner @ White Spot 'cause she wanted the ice cream (which looked really good -- it had actual strawberries in it like Haagen-daz), then we went home + decorated their Xmas tree. Triton came and helped us - we had a great time ♥

My goodness -- there's an age restriction (19+) for Version C of DBSK's Mirotic because of the LYRICS. I wouldn't have even thought of the connotation of some of the English phrases if Soompiers didn't point them out... and even so, it's like poetry -- that's just their interpretation. Ridiculous.

In other ridiculous news, Korea's laws on adultery are STRICT! Ok So-Ri, a popular actress, admitted to having an affair with her pop-singer husband, Park Chul and is sentenced to 2 years in jail.
"Society still recognises that adultery damages social order," said the court.
"The punishment of a two-year jail term is not excessive when comparing it to responsibility."
I went to double check Canada's ciminal code and I found that it "does not identify adultery as an offence per se except within the context of endangering the morals of a child"...
The Korean Times says that in the past three years about 1,200 people have been indicted annually for adultery, but very few have been jailed.
I wonder what would happen if she wasn't a woman -- if it was the husband who was the adulterer... or if she wasn't a celebrity (gov't feels they need to set an example of how serious it is to commit this crime?), would the government make such a big deal out of this? Maybe she could have gotten away.

My brother and I treated the 'rents @ The Afghan Horsemen on Granville Island for my dad's birthday today. My dad used to work there back in high school so he knows the familyish. It was good! Afghan food. We had the Horsemen Sample Platter + Afghan tea. I love ethnic food like that -- would love to try more soon!

I've never really had a problem with mine, though I admit, a couple times I thought it'd be nice to be actually able to fill out a bikini top.. Butchea, it's true, the more you have, the more attention is directed towards them and the more attn you'd get from the opposite sex. What would be on my mind, besides the unwanted attn, would be "are these guys coming up to you for the right reasons? Genuine?" What about personality, intelligence, and wit? We're just talking about unnatural ones, of course. If yours are natural, flaunt away! I'm just saying I'm OK with what I have. I would never go under the knife for a guy. It's all about being happy about who you are. Cheesy but so true =)

Ok, to be honest, I've considered getting Uggs 4 times this season because I didn't want my feet to freeze. Thank goodness it hasn't snowed yet! BUT WHY AREN'T THERE ANY CUTE FUR-LINED BOOTS THAT DON'T MAKE YOUR FEET LOOK LIKE A CLUBBED FOOT? Gahh and Uggs aren't even cute at all -- they're just attainable (well, somewhat not really... apparently they keep getting sold out)... and yes, they're warm - I've stuck my foot in one before... but they're so darn ugliciously trendy + everywhere and to me, they scream fashionably lazy (though practical, I admit). Anyway, conclusion sits at me NOT hopping on that bandwagon - just like the past 5+ years.

My footwear needs a desperate make-over! I've thrown out my cute, black skimmers from Taiwan and am now down to 2 NON-WINTER APPROPRIATE ones: my patent bowed stacked kitten heel or my black, so-sad-I-bought-these Payless flats I'm still trying to break in (I wear 4 band-aids everytime). If only I could afford them... see, I think classic shoes like those Christian Louboutin pumps are such a good investment! Feet don't really grow (unless you become preggers or gain weight another way). Just think of it -- $900 (CDN+tax) for a pair of classic shoes that will last you more than 10 years (don't say it won't! It will. Vintage shoes are still wearable and those are how old?) SO if you do the math, $900/10 years = $90/year! I can hardly find cute pumps for less than $150 these days so IMO - it's worth it... (plus w/ Louboutins, you can now replace the red sole when it's worn out! Can you say longevity?!). Anyway, this doesn't change the fact that I'm still boot-less.

Anyway, update on ME: my mommy is in Ottawa until tomorrow night @ a conference, it's my dad's 51st birthday this Friday and I'm working but hopefully we'll get to go out for dinner on Sat, parents put out all the Christmas decor out last weekend and now my house is snowman heaven, I have ppl I want to see but I still have my proposal + 4 exams to complete so it will have to wait, I want to go shopping in the States but there's really nothing to buy right now in-store (everything is available online) except for my Longchamp shopper that I'm kicking myself for not getting before the economy got so bad, I want to catch Oprah's 100 favourite things episode tomorrow (it has a twist! THRIFTIEST HOLIDAY SECRETS!!!!), and I'm still anxiously awaiting my acceptance letter from Korea University (should be here mid-late December)!!

Oh man, I know this is probably as much of a layout eyesore to you as it is to me.

I've been pretty busy the past few days...
1 project left -- due on the 3rd (now yay).. quiz on Monday.. assignment due Monday then YAY.
Worked yesterday night... didn't get home until 2 - barely made the last skytrain of the night (parents were asleep)... + then walked home 'cause the night bus was taking way too long... and today I served the room for work (group of 20 15-year olds played Rockband - mildly entertaining) and got off early.. and then on the 99 on the way home, the bus driver and a homeless guy (I think... it was dark) got into a violent fight with punches in the face, shoves... yea... my 1st live fight ever! It was just like the movies xept it was much slower 'cause the homeless seemed somewhat weak (malnutrition?) and the bus driver had a pot belly ahaha. So yea -- about 8 police cars came a few minutes later. That was my bit of excitement.

F21 has been extremely disappointed the past couple of months..

We've run out of big-kid toothbrushes in my house so I'm stuck using a blue Colgate Bugs Bunny kid one.. the one you're supposed to only put a "pea-sized" amount of toothpaste on haha. I like it though -- nice soft bristles, it's light, and it cleans my teeth very well. Just thought you'd like to know.

Another thing that works well is John Frieda's Frizz-Ease Straight-Forward Style-Enhancing (whoa that's a lot of hyphens) shampoo that I got a sample of at the Parasuco event. It claims to silken "for instantly easier straight styling; minimises frizz". And it does! I've been using it for a week now. I only have to straighten the dead ends of my hair when I use this product + my hair feels much silkier + less frizzy (baby hairs stay tame). Sometimes I feel as though I could even skip the conditioner! Only thing is that it doesn't lather very well so I feel as if I need to wash my hair twice. It has mixed reviews on Makeupalley...
"i'm always trying new shampoos, and this one has to be the best. it was a bit more than what i usually pay, but totally worth it. my hair is normally frizzy and unmanageable, and this made it so smooth and silky. i always straighten my hair and this shampoo(with the conditioner) has pretty much cut my straightening time in half!"

I still think a cropped fur coat is fun... but it's kind of ridiculous wearing it if noone I'm with would wear something as loud.

A Talent

Polyvore has become my "break-time-go-to" site. Very addicting and very inspirational. I found a great Polyvore creator -- Bubbatea! She puts together the most inspirational pics that I'm so drawn to... guess I really like the whole cream, flowy, gold, soft romantic look. Butchea it's a talent I must say... to create a seamless picture where all the pieces have to look like they go together... of the same theme... the correct placement, overlapping pictures, saturated colour, without too many brand names screaming at you, the correct font, a picture that doesn't look empty, and one that actually makes you feel something! Bubbatea does just that for me. You can also search up an item, brand, or celebrity. The best part is finding pieces you like 'cause you can click on them and find out where you can buy them and how much they are! Plus, you can see other ways to wear that item by seeing other Polyvore sets w/ that item.

My Sunday

I don't realize it when I'm up and at it, but double shifts (ie walking continuously for 11.5 hours) make my feet sore. I actually brought a box of band-aids to protect my feet, but I didn't feel like I needed it at the time... now my feet are lecturing me. Anyway, it was a good day. Night shifts all the way for me... all the way... Sugar, caffeine, and carbs were my energy sources... oh what a bad day food-wise. Kind of exhausted now! Goodnight.

Finish Line

The end of the semester is just so close I can actually see the finish line. Maybe it's because I can count the number of assignments, quizzes, and projects all on one hand or maybe because I know there's 10 days between my last class and my first final, but I feel determined to make it through more successfully than I have. 4 weeks left... school is finally going to be my #1 priority. Going out will be kept to twice a week max and this includes short meals, shopping, events... I will not not go to anymore classes (exception:1 hr Ling200 lecture on Wed)... I will try even harder to be on time.. and libraries + coffee shops might become my 2nd home.

Dec 12th..less than a month. I can do it! Aja!!!

1. Espresso Truffle....yummy sounding decadent hot chocolate! Will try next time.

2. Gingersnap Latte ... is this different from gingerbread? I love gingersnaps though!

3. Peppermint Twist...features the red sprinkles and the syrup is a combination of peppermint and spearmint apparently... Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha Twist = 500 calories of festive holiday goodness. (I don't like white chocolate but I love it in this!)

Interesting -- so DBSK's new MV for their song Wrong Number was released a few days ago. 'Cause this song is my least favourite from their CD (You've got the wrong number), I wasn't too impressed with the idea and production of the MV.. too obviously corny and literal.... and dancing in an underground parking lot?? hmm... though I thought they looked good... or as fans put it, smexy haha... especially JJ's rap... BUT their LIVE version is amazing - esp. considering that this is their first performance for this song and that they were so tired! They altered their concept hairstyles a bit too -- Junsu has a faux-hawk + Yoochun's hair is now orange-red and combed forward. Shiny too. Changmin smirk when he hit the high notes so perfectly. All in suits. Ah I just watched for the 5th time - I'm so impressed!
Same with Mirotic too! I loooved their MV, but their live is even better. So talented... look at them dance so awesomely + sing live at the same time.

Junsu sang a duet with his fraternal twin brother, Junho (lol trying to find him a girl) + it's airing tomorrow. I'm excited!
They didn't really look too similar when they were little, but now I def. see a resemblance.

I'm hoping to get a really good sleep for once tonight...

Pretty eventful day -- went to Posh for lunch w/ coworkers where I learned the ultimate swear word in Mandarin, scurried around downtown for a while, went to a Parasuco + LOULOU magazine event @ Parasuco with Nad where we sipped Shirley Temples, ate cupcakes with pink sprinkled icing, chocolate, and cute tuxedo chocolate-covered strawberries, and tried to find clothes to like. Some people on Soompi have some odd collections... and I'm surprised to see that a lot of them have false eyelash collections! That's pretty neat -- and practical too. I'm sure mine will never be as elaborate as theirs, but I started mine with my first pair of Shu Uemura's. I'm burning Mandarin CDs for my Auntie Eliza... woohoo spreading the Lee Hom + JJ Lin love! I'm gonna spend time with cousin Erin and Kyle tomorrow after school! We're gonna play Wii Fit. And then I'm gonna watch stand-up comedy @ Yuk Yuk's for a birthday. Fun!

"Unexperienced"

I love how so many online shops are always updated with the latest merchandise, but sometimes it can be overwhelming - especially if they have over 30 new items every day! That's why I like to just browse around the chain stores like A&F + Ruehl because they only come out with so many pieces every season and their signature clothes are pretty timeless. Interestingly, though, if A&F + Ruehl had stores in Vancouver, I don't think I'd wear their clothes because everyone would be on the same train... I guess that's why I buy some online. Who else thinks Hollister in PC is weird? It just has such an American feel to it. I wonder if they'll have the same store front as they do in the States... I never really wore HCO except for that old zippy... and now I'm too old for it but it's no loss.

Last year I wasn't a fan, but I've seen how warm and soft they are in person. I really like this one b/c there's no loud logo on it. You know, I really don't wear casual things like this very often at all so I'm not sure if I'd wear this a lot!
