A Social Event

Love Quotes Winterweight Scarf with Extra-Long Fringe in Chanterelle [$88CDN]
I have a lot of pashminas and scarves for the Spring and Fall, but this one has the perfect thickness for winter!
Aaaaaahhahaha so Diana + I went out for dinner at Cactus Club across from Burrard Stn. It's quite nice! Lots of windows which I love and yea - it does have that airport feel. You know I've never noticed it there... I don't go to Burrard very often at all. The servers are the best looking ones I've seen out of all of them. We found a small booth in the lounge and ordered a couple drinks + appetizers (yum to their mini burgers + yam fries). Then we headed over to The Centre of Performing Arts (which looks pretty nice!) to go to the Jason Mraz concert, only to find out that Cass + Jamie had sold their tickets to a couple of young Brazilian girls! So when we got there, we decided to sell our tickets to the scalper too (tbh, the hype about Jason Mraz had died down so much since I got his last CD) and then we all hung out at Starbucks and talked which was really lovely!

A Friday

I've been seeing a few girl customers with long, healthy hair at work. I'd like to start taking better care of my hair with deep conditioning treatments and hair masques.. and of course keep eating my veggies.. let's see if they work! Today I had quite the baaaaad hair day. It looked so dry and frizzy b/c of the rain.

Anyway, recently I've been wondering how much immaturity I can take before I call it quits. I guess some people have to test the limits or else I'll never know. Sometimes it's just not worth it - gotta let go of things that are nice to have that makes life easier and more fun, but something you just don't need.
Always striving to be the bigger person.

Work was interesting in a lot of different ways today.

Long day... I haven't been home since I left for class at 8:30AM. Went downtown afterwards for shopping and library research.... got a pair of boots from B2! I like them but I'm not too sure if they're keepers yet. Also got my 1st Lululemon item (only 'cause of a gift card) -- tight calf-length capris! And because my other thin-ankle-leggings from Target are waaay faded, I got a replacement from Aritzia. If I get (keep?) 1 pair of boots and a pair of ankle boots, my winter footwear-needs will be complete. Also had to buy a lint remover 'cause of a certain fuzzy thing I tried on.

Sufficing Momentarily...

I haven't had such an eventful Wednesday in a long time! Went to lecture -- it was actually one of my prof's most interesting and most understandable lectures about agroforestry. I learned a lot. Then picked Bern up from work and we stopped by Holts + I fawned over LV's Vernis Roxbury Drive bag (right).. again... except this time I got to try it on.... it's so light + perfect! I'm totally lusting (and this is one of the few things I'd want one of each colour)! This bag will be such a versatile addition to my wardrobe... but at almost a grand, I'll have to wait until after Xmas. I adore this Monogram Canvas Palermo GM too. Nice coats, shoes, and bags are my weakness.... and I ordered my first TNA long-version zip-up in a COLOUR (not black, white, or gray! shock!).
Anyway, we bussed out to Locus Cafe on Main St. to have dinner with Jason, Cass, Jeff, and Diana. It was really really nice seeing part of the group again! Good company. I shared an ahi tuna nicoise salad + paella and had champagne sangria (2 of my fav. alcoholic drinks at once!). They could have added more fruit to make it more sangria-like, but I love champagne nonetheless.
THEN we went to Mont Montre Cafe about a block away. It was already packed when we arrived - so much so, there were people waiting outside. We eventually got seats and I ate a sundae lol. Bonnie + a blues guy opened for Gardenburst. Gardenburst was great! Especially their last cover Sunday Morning by Maroon 5. Lots of energy! I digi-taped it.

Mackage @ Bloomingdales!
JuJu Belted Notch Collar Coat [$693USD]
Mackage is a Canadian brand -- made in Montreal, I believe and various styles are sold in Plenty + Aritizia this season.. and maybe Holts, but I've never seen this coat there.
Reality check: such a lovely coat but really, when will I have the occassion to wear it? I'm a student...And these girls are awesome! They're part of a dancing academy I think... and they're dancing to Wonder Girls' Nobody.
**
They almost look like WG! Look at their long legs! This really makes me want to learn the dance...

Let's Go West

How come men's fragrances smell so much better than women's?

First I find out Abercrombie's signature fragrance is their men's Fierce cologne... and then I sniff Burberry London for Men and it smells absolutely divine. I'm completely in love with the scent! Maybe I should get a bf just so I can buy this for him to wear ahahaha just kidding... nobutseriously. Burberry is love!

London Wishes

Joie Dream Some Over the Knee Boot [$475]
A coworker has boots that look veeery similar to these. I think hers might be the Chinese Laundry Turbo ones but I'll have to find out. I wish these came in light gray! I didn't really want a suede boot b/c of Vancouver rain, but I must admit these seem like a good investment just 'cause they'd be so versatile in my wardrobe!
ShopBop actually has a section dedicated to over-the-knee boots! Here's another one.
farylrobin Ringo Over the Knee Strap Boot [$340]
Zipia has a new brand called JinHee in LONDON. My Auntie Eliza wants me to order the aviator-type sunnies I bought from my last Zipia order so I thought I'd order a couple of things for myself while I was at it. It's really expensive to order right now b/c of the exchange rate... with shipping from TO + exchange rate, it turns out to be $20-$30 extra per item!
I'm easily persuaded by interesting pictures... and photogenic models!
The colonial-style architecture in the background really attracted me -- I've ordered the light gray sweater the girl is wearing. Not too sure about the quality -- I know it's not thick, but is it dry-clean only? Acrylic-spinning material.. hope it doesn't ball up when I wash it!
And I ordered the chiffon floral-printed dress:
I'm actually taking a risk.. I barely fit the measurements lol! It's one size... and the girl modelling is so thin soooo lets hope this fits!
The pics I've chosen don't give the whole London vibe justice. Go to Zipia.net and log in with my gmail address + password: misspiggy to see more! If you want anything, let me know ASAP 'cause I think the girl is going to order reeeeeeeeeal soon. (Shipping + service fees = around $4-5USD [@1.3CDN=1USD] altogether for small items, $10-15 for medium-sized (tees), and $20-25 for large like coats + chunky sweaters)

I think everyone feels as though they need a vaca eh?

A Bunch Of = Qualifier

Watched the first 2 parts of Jeol Chin House/Notes. I think they should rename it to be the most awkward show in the world. I don't even know what this show is about!
Awkward turtle-like silence (part 1 subbed)
Awkward icebreaker game (part 2 subbed)
And Junsu's clothes + glasses and whole nerdy concept just made the whole thing even more awkward! Now that's a lot of awkwardness....

aardvark looks like awkward after a while...

Rats... I have a midterm tmr for one Ling course and I found out that I have to do a presentation for my other Ling course too! It will be a laaate night....

[Edit] Whew... record timing 10-min homework! Super easy review of my other Ling class.. thank goodness for the content overlap... now back to studying.

FRYE Women's Paige Cuff Boot [$400] @Amazon.com

Over-the-knee love!Juicy Couture - Rhonda [$157] @ Zappos
Juicy Couture Camden [$624] Found themmm on Zappos!
Also available in brown
I adore this bootie! This picture is from Natalicious-STYLE, a blogger from Oslo.
It's surprisingly from Tommy Hilfiger -- cannot find it online....
But wow I haven't been this excited for shoes since I found those Juicy Camden ones.
I love the heel - it's substantial enough to walk a long time in them!
I would also like this baby
Meet
Mason! He's in this movie called "Baby and I" -- Canadian + Korean mix... he's 1 (a 2007-er)!
Sung YuRi is so gorgeous!
Love the coat!
See more here
(not sure if link works for non-Soompi members)
Oh yea a coworker got that glycolic peel done at Holts [$50] and her skin looks absolutely amazing + glowy!
She also got the deep tissue massage, full body exfoliator (I think it's the salt glow), mani + pedi done.
Here's the list of treatments + prices. (I think it's kind of funny how they're pretty descriptive w/ the treatments for women, but for men, all they have are "face, hands, feet" lol)
If I could pick any 3, I'd get the glycolic facial peel or microdermabrasion facial, salt glow + intense callus pedicure.
Helloooo Christmas.

If I Were A Boy

My goodness I didn't think it'd be THAT dead today @ Posh! When I go to work, no matter if I'm 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th server or if I'm doing the room, people are always bustling around, keeping busy and at least half the restaurant is full. I thought it would be busy before everyone went out but I was soo wrong. Anyway, customers were pleasant enough as usual.... but it's always the coworkers that make you take back the "I wish I were home studying" thought on those rare, dead days. Today, one of the highlights (of quite a few) was when Scott came by in his costume after he went out w/ his buddies. LOL he was a cross dresser! I couldn't believe it -- when he came through the door, I thought he was actually kind of pretty in a tranny sort of way until I realized it was him! He even shaved his legs for the occasion haha SO I took some pictures but I lost the transfer cord so no pics for a while. He wore a verrry short jean skirt + this silky deep-back halter... no padding underneath though ahaha I spent about 5-10 minutes trying to get some badly-applied Revlon nailpolish off one of his cross-dresser buddies... let's just say Shopper's Life Essentials nail polish remover + napkins just don't work.

So different working with all girls today too (well, except for Wells)-- usually a mix, though almost always a girl majority. Funfun

I was actually craving sukiyaki while I was working... hopefully tomorrow or next week sometime.

Got my AA long tank dress from Ebay! This is the first time I think I got the sizing wrong from an online purchase (yea I know I should have tried it on in store!) but let's just hope it shrinks.

Apparently LV in Canada is cheaper than the states! Whodathought!

You know, I've been meeting sososo many interesting people recently at school, at work w/ coworkers + customers - it's fascinating to hear what they're all about! And then I meet this dull, uninteresting person (but not deadbeat) today in tutorial... howdoesshelive?

Btw, I think I want a pig as much as a ferret as my next pet... seriously.

Amusement

DBSK on Come To Play (Korea's #1 Talk/Game Show) was so entertaining!
It put a huge smile on my face and made me LOL so many times. It's like all the boys finally opened up so you could see a different, much more real side of them.
Yep - one good quality show.

Here's [HQ/Eng Sub] DBSK on Come to Play [1/7]

I love their reenactments!!!!

I'm not a big fan of fancams nor DBSK couplings, but this one involves a cute YooSu (Yoochun + Junsu) moment.. where Yoochun cheers up a sleepy/bored Junsu.

Wooooot Institutional Project for Geog 322 is DONE! Learned a lot from presentations today - really educational and interesting! I can semi-relax tonight!

[Edit] NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO my boots are sold out from Nordstrom!!!!! HOW?!
I can only find the brown version @ Bloomingdales........................

Are You...

What I find to always be an interesting subject of conversation is ethnicity - specifically Asians (most probably because I am one). Asians (especially Chinese/HK-Asians!!) are nosy. They always seem to want to know where exactly other Asians are from and always love to guess. I'm fascinated because it involves stereotypes -- what features/way of dress/style is associated with which part of Asia? To me, I believe I can tell the general difference between where someone is from, but it's a description that's really hard to define using words.
Would you get offended if they guessed wrong? It depends on your mindset - if you're not biased towards certain ethnicities/countries, then I can't see why you would be. Do you think where/the way you were born or raised has a lot to do with it? Is there really such thing as having more Westernized features if you were born here? Maybe the food you eat and your environment shapes facial features or height. Or not? To me, SooYoung from SNSD doesn't look very Korean. She looks like she could fit in as a Canadian really easily here in Vancouver. Ah so pretty. Her (left) and HoYeon (middle, blonde) have the most Westernized features out of all of them. If I were to see them on the streets, I'd assume they could speak English perfectly, but that's not the case.
During 1st and 2nd year of uni, I was thought to be Korean a lot, mixed in with a few random Japanese guesses, and then I got Chinese as the backup-guess. Now, especially at work, it's been "are you Taiwanese?!" every single time (over 20). But I don't know if it's because they know Posh is Taiwanese-owned or not though... but it got me thinking, what DO stereotypical Taiwanese girls look like anyway? I'm still not clear... dyed hair? High maintenance? That's just what I think.. When I was in Asia, I don't think anyone really doubted I wasn't from China/HK (but I wouldn't know... I didn't really talk to them directly b/c of language obstacles)... (actually, except for that Uncle in that Malaysian waterpark, thought B and I were Korean).

What "Are you...?"s do you get?

Autumn In My Heart

Blinded by leaf-brightness.
After an audition @ BCCM! I was a page-flipper hahaTurning up the colour!
Very spoiled at work this weekend (coworkers are so lovely!). I'm working Hallowe'en - I think/hope everyone is gonna dress up anyway though! Hmm what else is black besides witches and cats?

Excitement!

omGOODNESS I am SO excited about exchange all over again! International Exchange Orientation just ended (an hour early) -- I'm still at school. They answered all my questions and there was a panel of people who went on exchanges to various places last term that we got to talk to -- one from Korea (Yonsei). Now I'm just so anxious to get my acceptance letter from Korea University (which won't come until mid-Dec!!!) and so I can apply for my visa. I'm not reeeeeeally sure about what visa to get and all that, but I think I want a working visa ontop of my student visa too... 'cause I wanna teach English (which is basically just talking to people) legally (some students do do it under the table which could = jail 'cause they're super strict...). I also met the other 2 students going to Korea Uni (KU) too! They're both Korean -- really interesting, I find, how pretty much all the students who go to Korea for exchange are Korean themselves. Also, from what I've heard/read, it seems as though we've got it the toughest here in North America education-wise! Everyone says that school in Asia and Europe (especially) was so much more slack - so much that they think that they've forgotten how to study. There's so much to do before I go though... like renew my passport, photocopy a bunch of stuff, get visa, airfare, figuring out what I'm going to do after, research cell phone, regulations, transportation, where I'm going to live, figure out more courses... get into Business.... AND I realize I want/need to work more to make more spending money b/c apparently it's very easy to spend way more than budgeted.. even if you over-budget. We're talking $10,000+, going mainly toward travel to other places! To be honest, I've only budgeted around $8,000 for personal spendage. Thank goodness I can work full-time in January and Feb before I leave in March! I'm also thinking of extending my stay there to 2 semesters since a lot of past exchange students wish they had, but we'll have to see. It's easier to plan for 2 and just drop the 2nd semester instead of adding it on once I finish a term. Lots of paperwork... I guess it really all depends if I get into Business or not... I realize that this is really my last term to get into Business if I were to graduate in 2010. If I don't, then I can only try again next Fall (and then it'd be another 3 semesters for sure). Really, there's no rush, but school, to me, isn't the funnest thing and I'd sort of like to end it ASAP. Backup plan? I'd probably just get a Geo major, but I'm not sure how many courses Korea offers for Geo. My goodness how boring and uninteresting.

Anyway, I'm absolutely exhausted from my 5 hours of sleep. I had 2 cups of coffee this morning, I guess it helped a bit for a while and now I'm all zzzz again internally. I think I'm gonna head over to work now and read some notes at Blenz.

Did you know you can't ship perfume by mail?!

W

Downloaded JJ Lin's Sixology. There's something about his voice that makes me so calm, content, and care-free. Maybe it's 'cause I subconsciously relate it to HK and vacations, but it's soothing stuff! I had an amusing discussion/debate on Chinese/Tw singers w/ a customer last week at Posh. She was all into Fahrenheit + Jay Chou when I was into JJ Lin... but we both agreed on Lee Hom.

Got someone to take my Sunday shift so I could actually study. I have international exchange orientation from 8:30AM - 3:30PM on Sat and then I have to go to work from 5:05PM-12AM!! LONG DAY.

Aunt ordered the bag eee! I'm crossing my fingers the colour will turn out differently from the picture. I know this is probably the worst time to buy things from the States lol.. even my brushes! They were supposed to be $30USD but it turned out to be $39CDN!

Oh yea -- I washed them yesterday. My mom loves the mini kabukis I bought her. All the brushes turned out softer after I shampooed them. No dye was released and only 3 hairs (out of hundreds) fell out from one of the Badger ones. The Italian Badger-haired ones are still a bit more rough than I was expecting, but they seem pretty good so far as they pick up colour. The blush one is a bit fat compared to the travel Body Shop one I have so it'll take a little getting used to. The synthetic angled eyeliner is absolutely excellent! I'm super duper happy with that one. I have so much more precision now with the longer, slimmer handle than that stumpy travel Body Shop one.

Just found out Kat Von D from LA Ink has her own makeup line by Sephora! I'm not an eyeshadow girl, but I think her palettes look great -- and they have 118 5/5 reviews too!

True Romance Eyeshadow Palette - BeethovenTrue Romance Eyeshadow Palette - LudwigHad a presentation for Geo 312 - World Resources today... it went alright. Now I gotta work on my Tokyo Hazards project and Institutional Profile on YVR for next week...

Really enjoyed DBSK on Mnet My Favourite and Yunho+Xiah on Family Outing (hilarious)! Some of the radio shows are surprisingly boring though... skip skip skip

Gmarket - Button-up loose-sleeved dress/sweater-type [$17.80USD]
Hmm Lindsay Lohan.. you know when they have pics of celebs next to their clothes, a lot of them looked photoshopped.
Mmm sangria/lemon soju... I'm waiting

"Girls Are Like M&M's"

Got my Coastal Scents brushes today! Gotta wash them and then I'll tell you how they are.

Aunt's friend is going down to Cali next month -- I put an order in for that Sabina Leather Convertible Satchel 'cause I got a 25% off coupon for UO. I had a suuuuuper hard time picking a colour. I wish they had a the dark green I saw in LA - I would have chosen that in a heartbeat! I chose the dark brown even though I need a black bag. If you want anything for 25% off, let me know by today (Oct 21st)! I've scoured the UO pages like crazy. I need like $50-70 more for free shipping, but doesn't matter shmatter.

Ummm work was interesting this weekend. More new people... the bar area seems even more crowded... not used to all these bussers but tables get cleaned so fast now wooot I think I've officially stopped hosting. For a while now, I've been hosting 1 day and serving 2, but now I'm serving all 3 days which is great, but it means I don't get to dress up anymore haha but thats fine.

The next few weeks are full of presentations and term projects (I've got 4!) and a couple more quizzes. UGHDKFJDKDGGGHHHH This term isn't too fun school-content-wise...

Nad has got me hooked on this entertaining youtube-r, KevJumba.

Family In My Heart

Just as I thought things were fine -- allergies are allergies and my mom's side is very well trained to deal with them -- I run into some other, more serious family health issues. It comes at me all at once like BAM... so undeserving, especially to those who have been through a lot already.......

Always hoping for the best!!

TKG

I found this on Xanga's featured blogs and thought it was a little amusing:

Ten Tips On Dating A Korean Girl

FYI - You should aim to be or actually be a doctor, accountant, lawyer, engineer, in finance or just ridiculously smart & eloquent if you want to date a Korean girl.

And yes, I am indeed stereotyping.

10. Prepare to get fat. Korean girls love to feed their men... Fatten them up for the kill, so to speak? They'll make you so undesirable that no woman in their right mind would want to see you naked. Plus Korean girls and their ridiculous metabolisms allow them to eat anything, whenever she wants... you can always tell which guys have been in long-term relationships by how chubby his face is. ahahhaa

9. Carry her designer purse for her when she asks you to. As embarrassing as it is, it is less embarrassing than when she starts to whine and starts sobbing, "but so and so's boyfriend carries her bag for herrrrr, don't you love me babyyyyy? why won't you carry my bag for meeeee, my arm huuuuuurts" - blubber blubber blubber. oh ew.

8. Be nice to her sister, her mother, her grandmother, her aunt, her great aunt, her aunt's cousin's sister-in-law's step-sister. Oh, and to her best friend, too, but not THAT nice because then she'll assume you're hitting on her friends and that would NOT bode well for you. Your girlfriend's female relatives can be your best ally or your worst enemy. (They like gifts too.) And beware of the Korean ajjumma.. she will tear you a new one, son. so true...

7. Every Korean girl has a materialistic beast inside her that craves the likes of Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Dior and Chanel. Remember dates, like the 100th day after you met, the 100th day after you first kissed her, the 100th day yada yada yada. And buy her a little something accordingly. So in other words... be rich... or at least keep up appearances that you are... Your first gift can't be something too cheap or else she'll think you'll never be able to provide for her "stay at home and look hot" lifestyle... but at the same time, you can NEVER downgrade. it's all up from there. I don't recommend an LV bag for your first gift, but if it's made of PAPER, she'll shred it. omg.....

6. Pretend not to notice when she's stuffing her face. Most TKCs will pretend that she doesn't eat that much but once you get closer you will know that a Korean girl's stomach has no bounds and limitations. She was lying when she said she wasn't hungry the first time you took her out to dinner. As soon as you dropped her off at home, she busted out the biggest pot in the kitchen and made herself some bomb ass bibimbap with the four bowls of leftover rice. And ate it all. In one sitting. And probably downed it with a beer.

5. TKCs like to feel special. Don't check out other girls when you're spending time with her. She has eyes like a hawk and will notice if you so much a GLANCE at another girl. She'll make a big deal and start a fight with you in the middle of the mall/park/parking lot, etc. If you do get busted, your first words better be, "Why are all girls so damn ugly next to you, baby? Let's go to Chanel." LOL!!

4. When you go drinking remember that she drinks waaaaaay more than she's letting on. TKC girls hardly get drunk but they would like to appear it so you can take care of her just like in the movies. But then again Korean girls only drink lemon soju/yogurt soju/grape soju anyway, so it can't actually be THAT much. She's probably faking the whole drunk act just so you can give her a piggy back ride.

3. Kiss your friendships with the fairer sex goodbye. She trusts you of course... but she doesn't trust the conniving K-Town hobags that write their numbers on your arm when you're clubbing with the boys orrrrr the girl who used to be your study buddy back in college. Oh, and don't try to use this logic on HER guy friends... because her guy friends are JUST FRIENDS.

2. That boy's night out you had planned? "But what am I gonna do?" That dinner with the parents? "But what am I gonna eat?" That night you were gonna spend at home alone to relax? "But don't you find it relaxing to spend time with ME?" Basically, just say goodbye to everyone LOL!

1. And if all else fails as my friend Manny suggests, "Just date a white girl. You men need to realise that this is an option. "

haha?

I want to try yogurt soju!! Sounds delish. I've had someone ask me for a glass of Calpis and a glass of Soju @ Posh before.. I guess they were trying to make it!

Craving fish... any fish

"Are There Volcanoes In Japan?" [...........................]

I've downloaded so many great CDs (thanks yongwonhi!) over the past few days!

- Son Ho Young Vol. 2 - Returns
- Rain Vol. 5 - Rainism (except that he has this song called Fresh Woman and it sounds like he's saying Fresh Ramen) -- but good job, especially since it's produced under his own company!
- YMGA - Made in R.O.K (Mini Album) ** Really good!
- H-Eugene - Fantasy Partner (Mini Album)
- Big Bang Number 1 Single

Not a fan of Wonder Girl's Food Song.. I think it sounds too girly and cutesy like SNSD.
Nor do I like Junsu's new orange/red hair.........
Parents are home!
