Kind of an old pic -- I saw it a few weeks ago but didn't bother to post until today. It's DBSK's new concept. Refreshing from the typical boyband stuff, eh?

Craigslist has been wonderful to me. It has allowed me to make some extra cash such as when I've sold items, and it helped me find jobs (bakery and Posh). I was thinking today how my decision to quit the bakery was one of the best decisions I've made even though at the time, my parents were sort of against it. They weren't too fond of the idea that I had only worked there a month and was sick of it already. If I didn't quit, I wouldn't have had the jobs I have now, which means I would probably be unemployed right now and my Korea fund would be almost nonexistant. A sign of growing up? It made me realize how many decisions I've made in the past relied on my parents' input. They have been wonderful in providing me with the best advice and it has opened up so many opportunities for me... I'm forever grateful. Until recently, I've been living with the mindset, they're older, they've had more experience, they should know best. While that generally stands true, now I feel like I've matured. I've been much more proactive with myself and life in general and have been finally making my own decisions and just doing things I want to do without assistance from my parents. It feels great, liberating even. I'm exhausted from work today.. hosted... relaxing serving tmr. Wootz.

Oh my -- I think everyone should just run out to get a Magic Bullet! I've been using mine so much ever since I took the time to open the packaging.. it's as great as the informercials! Smoothies galore. I have yet to use it for other purposes such as dips, pasta sauces, and soups, among many others.

AH I hate the feeling of being homesick when I'm home! Just sometimes, when I finally have a quiet moment to myself, my mind wanders ahead and I just feel that way, and it makes me sad. This time it's not even me that's leaving -- it's my parents! .. for 2.5 weeks starting at the end of this month! Aiya =(

I realize I need a couple more school bags -- ever since I gave away a few, my options have gone down to 3... one of which is going to be kaput soon! Bags are so hard to buy here...

I'm exhausted. Working tonight though!

Miss Piggy

I toootally pigged out today -- I was like a black hole 'cause how much + whatever I ate never made me feel full at all! I had sushi (shashimi + a spider roll + gomae) @ Sushi Garden for lunch, then split a bbt, then had yogen fruz (Medium!) practically by myself, then the lady @ Town Shoes gave me a Kinder Bueno bar (which I love!), then a yummy homemade veggie dip (pretty much ate the whole container) w/ pretzel chips, and then had a whole Cupcakes cupcake (Diva! Pink frosting!), and then dinner, and then I made a sorbet using the magic bullet. YUP. And I'm still not full! In fact, I feel hungry.

Got me a pair of black shoes at Town Shoes today! They have a bit of a stacked stub heel -- like maybe only an inch and they're skimmers (meaning pointy-toed and low to the ground)... patent, surprisingly for me. Plus they have a bit of suede on them and a suede bow thingy on the front. They're cute, I like them.

I wish there were no such thing as Geo tutorials... I wish there are Geo classes available on distance ed. After this term, I only have three 400-level Geo classes to take hurray!
AH I counted how many courses I needed to take next year -- I mis-counted... maybe I should take 5 courses in Korea... or else I'd have 10 courses left which means 5 courses/year for Fall 2009 and Spring 2010. NOT FUN. And since Korea's semester ends at the end of June, I can't take SFU summer school... unless I decide to do a summer term there too.

What Am I Going To Do With You?

BSB Concert last Thursday!! Aren't I lucky - this is my 2nd time seeing them in concert!! This time, Artemis, my long-time trusty and loyal BSB fanbuddy could come with.
Girlicious opened up for them -- I gotta give it to them -- they're really hot and sexy and they have great stamina and entertaining gymnastic/athletic qualities and they really portray that genre really well... but their songs are terrible and so were their outfits... their hair and makeup looked super trashy.... and they totally lip synced the whole time.
I never buy anything at concerts 'cause I (used to) always take so many pictures that those were my souvenirs, but this time I bought food lol... $5 popcorn and $5.50 haagendaz. A got a program. I wasn't very interested in the tees, but I thought the Girlicious one was nice -- the red and yellow, until I saw that they had their name on top.
After Girlicious was a half an hour intermission. A and I were pretty impatient -- meanwhile, we ate our icecream popsicles + popcorn while we talked and watched a bunch of desperados (guys) pick up random girls... admist large groups of girls screaming for BSB throughout. My ears!
Finally! A little boy with a mass of blonde curls on his head is ushered out onto stage and semi-shyly goes, into a microphone, "Are you guys ready for the BACKSTREET boys? I said... are you ready for the BACKSTREET boys???!". That totally got the crowd going even more.
A few minutes later, the guys came out in boxing robes and duelled it out in a boxing ring to Larger Than Life. They played a mix of their classics w/ their new songs. I knew the lyrics to every single one =D You could tell that a lot of the audience weren't familiar with their new songs with their response -- they didn't sing very loudly.
It felt a bit incomplete (pardon the pun) that there were only 4 of them on stage - Kevin isn't part of their group anymore. I actually stopped and thought for a brief sec, and realized wow.... Nick is 28 and all the others are over 30!! It didn't seem odd, though, when they broke out into their cheesy choreography that we all know and love.
I know I have my ticket stub somewhere, but I can't remember the exact year I attend their previous concert -- perhaps Grade 9 or 10? I went w/ my mom and I remember standing and singing so excitedly throughout the whole concert... and I took 2 or 3 rolls of film (none of them turned out very well).
Anyway, again, I didn't take very good pictures, or many pictures at all. I wanted to enjoy the concert in its entirety this time.
There were plenty of great parts -- like when AJ or Brian let the audience sing a section of one of their old songs. It sounded so heavenly! And when the boys gave front-row audience members smooches on their cheek as an example of what each and every one of their girl fans would get if they had time.
The boys look good -- both A and I can't get over at how well Howie has aged. AJ looks pretty much the same - his voice still has that great, huskiness we all love. Brian was always seems to be the most mellow out of all of them -- he looks exactly the same! And Nick -- my fav.! He looked really good! Of course, a lot thicker than his Black & Blue days, but he's also a lot more fit than he looked for a period there.
Screamscreamscream! I thought I'd lose my voice! Like Artemis said, I felt like I was 13 all over again. Armwaves back and forth, jumping up and down, dancing, and definitely singing along to every song! Twas a greatgreatgreat concert!
Our seats were alright -- basically ticketmaster sold the back half first and so Patricia bought tickets for us on pre-sale... and then a few weeks later, Ticketmaster decides to open the front! How unfair for us TRUE BSB FANS! So we got stuck with ones that were farther back than we had wanted. Patricia sold hers and bought closer tickets. But I'm sorta glad I'm farther away -- my eardrums are sensitive when it comes to concerts/clubs! They ring for days after -- I can still hear a trace of ringing and it's been 3 days!
Oh and each one of them sang a solo song. Howie did a Spanish song, AJ sang a... I don't know what category he's under haha... Brian sang a song from his Christian solo CD, and Nick sang something slow-ish. Oh Nick - I still looove your voice [swoon].
The concert went by toooo quickly - before I knew it, they were saying their thanks and had left the stage! But BSB-style, they came back for an encore with Shape Of My Heart. I remember in the last concert, BSB sang Drowning as their encore song.
After the concert, A and I went out and saw a bunch of girls running over to this metal fence, screaming for BSB. We cross the street, not thinking they'd come out, but sure enough, a huge trailer/bus comes out and lingers there for a few minutes. We're all chanting and screaming for them. Finally, the bus slowly turns the corner and AJ opens the tiny window in the back, smiles and waves -- and you can also see Brian's hand.
This concert was pretty different compared to the other one I went to - it was a lot less choreographed (I mean, the boys sat down and pretend-gambled for Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely and pretty much stayed still for a couple other songs). You could also tell that they spent a lot less money and time on decor -- they hardly bothered with the lights and props... maybe 'cause they have less funding as they aren't at their peak anymore, and they just seemed much more relaxed -- as if they knew they were already legends and loved. Maybe they felt they didn't need to prove how good they were anymore b/c everyone already knows. I mean, they only had one background and that was a bsb sign in lower-case bubble letters. If I were to be a critic (I know I'm not), though, I would say that the boys acted as if this was such a routine -- they didn't have that extra "perfectionist" energy that I saw last time. But anyway, it's BSB and that always = a great concert. I'm positive noone left GM place unhappy! Btw, I'm also surprised at how many ppl I knew who attended the concert too!

Busy weekend - was totally Posh-ed out 'cause I ate there twice for lunch w/ friends and worked there Fri, Sat, and Sunday. I can't believe I have school tomorrow! Sounds like an easy day hopefully. I served for the first time tonight, even though I have quite a few bussing shifts left. I loveeee it!!! So stress-free compared to hosting [sighofrelief]. Awesome generous drink-ordering customers too. I'm serving next Friday and Sunday and am hosting Sat (all at night). Bye bye weekend!

Week 2 of my 4th year at SFU. Shouldn't be too bad.

First day of classes went alright - long bus rides to school, to Harbour Centre, and back home. lol Today was pretty warm so I wanted to wear my shorts.. and of course all of them are short shorts. Usually I wouldn't give my outfit a 2nd thought but I was actually a tad self-conscious, while walking down to the skytrain station, that my shorts (jean distressed) were too inappropriate for school lol. How conservative of me all of a sudden! But then I saw 2 other girls wearing short shorts so I felt mucho better. Had Ling220 in the morn and Geog 322 in the afternoon. Good, nice professors as usual. Got my program proposal all signed yay! I keep thinking of how all this is gonna be when it's cold and snowing... I'll need boots!

Got dinner w/ A + BSB concert after school tomorrow! I think I'm gonna listen to some of my old BSB CDs... Millenium! Oh how happy I was when I got you for Christmas in 2000! And how much I replayed "I Need You Tonight" lol 'cause it was sang by the Carter.

What a coincidence -- I wrote that title b/c it was the name of a cream that was on my desk. An hour after I posted this, I checked my hotmail for the first time in over 2 months and was bombarded with over 100 e-mails (mostly junk). One of the non-junk ones was a fwd from my mom. It's a story:

For us crack(ed) pots…….

An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water.
At the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full. For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water.
Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do. After two years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream. "I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house." The old woman smiled, "Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side?"
"That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them."
"For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house."
Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding.
So, to all of my crackpot friends, have a great day and quit looking at 'perfect' pots with envy (you is what you is, so be the best you can be) and remember to smell the flowers on your side of the path!

Quitting Feels Good Sometimes

I was checking my Xanga subscriptions (something I haven't done in a looong while.. so much has changed! How confusing) and this girl from Australia mentioned that it was the first day of Spring! I still find it amazing how their seasons are totally opposite of ours, especially when, if you go somewhere along the same time zone, it's just like ours. I hope that made sense.. I'm tired and should actually be going to bed now. Butchuknow what I just realized? I have never traveled below the equator before! I remember my HUGE want to go travel to Australia back in the middle of high school. My #1 place to travel to was Australia for a long time until I got into Asian stuff. Now, if I were to rate my go-to-lust destinations, it would be:

2. Greece/Bora Bora
3. Japan
4. Italy
5. India
6. Australia
haha Pretty typical eh? Watch this change in a couple years... well, when I cross most of them off! I have 10 more years to fulfill my Gr 12 goal - the one Ms. Heel said while I walked across the stage to receive my certificate -- I want to travel the world before I'm 30.

Mini review on Stride gum -- I keep on getting samples when I go downtown. Pretty OK flavour -- citrusy with a hint of mint so it does freshen your breath a bit. I'm one of those types that throw away gum when the flavour is gone whether it's 10 minutes or 30 seconds, but I've been chewing this one for over 20 minutes! Pretty good record for me. It's also great to blow bubbles with! Snap

Just came back from work -- probably the first day I've ever worked SO MUCH!

7 hours @ event planning & 7 hours at Posh. Can't blame me but I'm a bit tired. I was all zzzzz in the morning and afternoon until I started my shift... tried all sorts of caffeine -- tea, coffee, pop, chocolate.. sugar... nothing worked until a coworker gave me a cookie she made.... zing! So awake. Had to stay until 12 (would have got off at 10) but this new girl was supposed to bus today but she didn't come! Apparently she didn't make it to her first 2 hosting shifts too.... so I hosted and bussed today. All the customers were very pleasant today... it was pretty crazy again but not as crazy as last time, surprisingly, as I had over 20 walk in groups (it spilled over to the other side of the reservation book!). I could have sworn the doppleganger of Phil from Wong Fu Productions came with his g/f hahaha - this one's is a bit thinner though... but just as nice (I assume Phil is nice).
It was also the first day of the price change:
Lunch used to be $9.88, now it's $11.88.
Dinner used to be $13.88, now it's $15.88.
And gift cards! Get a $158 value for just $138 and it's effective immediately. Expires in a year. That's 10 dinners -- good for large parties especially. Limited Edition.
Roger's last day =( So sad again.. but he promised he'd visit lots as a customer. Why is everyone leaving for school?! Can't they work 2 shifts a week? I guess I shouldn't say anything yet... let's see how my grades get with my 2 part-time jobs this semester...
Posh is fun though - I look forward to every shift... and it's exactly what I love -- absolutely wonderful coworkers, a decently modern atmosphere, and constant customer interaction... and the opportunity to rate how well you're doing with tips... and earn more than just a regular, steady wage.
Parents didn't pick me up at the station after work today -- they were asleep! I can't believe it... it was 1AM and I'm by myself with 3 guys in their mid-20's, waiting 20 min for the #16 bus.

Colour Me Wonderful

I have this huge urge to go into a fabric store! I found this great idea on something to make and I just want to hole myself in my mom's closet room for 2 days and sew like a mad woman until it's complete. And yes, this is partly an action to go through with my recent echoed phrase, "I can make that!"
One of the projects is to include an exposed zipper on a pair of ankle leggings like these on Zipia for $24.

I'm so excited I ordered my BCBG 'famous' shoes!!!!!! They're 40% off at Nordstrom right now.... All summer shoes are -- check it out. I'm a bit disappointed I didn't get my exact size -- had to go a half size up (which is the size I tried on in store - not bad, a bit loose but still comfy) 'cause my size sold out... if only I bought it yesterday! I had it waiting in my shopping cart.

I have a fascination with arms... I think. It's pretty much the 3rd place I look when I observe someone -- their arms - especially their upper arm if they're wearing sleeveless. I admire and am awed by long, slender arms that don't look like hams or bulge when they're pressed against their side. Of course, too skinny isn't nice to look at either. I admit I do get self-conscious about my upper arm sometimes, which is why I don't wear sleeveless often. The way I think is that if your arm looks thin, ppl assume the rest of you is that way too even if it's not... it's just easier to disguise! Plus there's so many more options in outfit and dress when you wear sleeveless... there seems to be so many different cuts to flatter/hide your unsightly midsection or your torso in general these days!

I always go on such an inspirational run (not literally) whenever I browse Chictopia. That site is so wonderful... thx Lulu, Rumi, and the other 2 Uglies!
Why is it important to have a personal style? Because we can’t duck tape our college degrees, resumes, and iTunes playlists onto our face. A more face-friendly option would be to adopt a distinct point of view when dressing.

Shoes that cover 75% of my foot. I like some booties but I can't pull them off so scratch that.

You know why ppl pay so much for shoes? It's 'cause you can't simply make them with a sewing machine.

And I'm lusting for solid black stockings and a purple bag.

I can't remember the last time I was so excited about finding the perfect _____. You know, that feeling of finally discovering/getting your hands on something you absolutely LOVE? How sad... I mean, I get that feeling lots online when I find something I loooove but it's usually not for sale or unattainable financially so it doesn't count.

Anyway, time to shower and head out. Later, I'm meeting my mom at her work + then we're going to Richmond to do a focus group!
