Gom Se Mari Ga...

Tralalaa

I just had my first Korean class with M this morning! First time I had to wake up so early for a class... this class starts at 10. My earliest class this term started at 11:30.
I really enjoyed it! Super small class - b/c of lack of interest, both Korean Level I and II are combined. Can't wait for next week. I hope we learn more faster. We just went over the vowels in the alphabet and 10 new words. Fun though!
After, we me up w/ B and went to Lombardos for lunch and filled up on pasta (for me for the run), scouted out for some gelato but the "long lineup" discouraged us from that half litre LOL. Ended up walking up and down the Drive and getting some baked goods at Fratelli's (Italian Bakery) for pretty cheap w/ an entertainment coupon! Then B+ I rented Enchanted @ Blockbuster's (I haven't been in sooo long) - finallyyyy I haven't watched a Disney movie in so long! That movie was so SHORT!
Songs from the movie I'm repeating over... and over... and over again:
Jon McLaughlin - So Close
Carrie Underwood - Ever Ever After

Oh yes - so my new plan for school:
Becky suggested that I take some Linguistics courses since:
1. I took a Linguistics course before, did well and really liked it,
2. I love languages and it has to do with languages, and
3. It's not that hard.
SO in short, I will do a minor in Linguistics. BUT I still don't want to graduate w/ an Arts degree so I will just use Ling to raise my GPA, get into Business and finish what I started. If Business still doesn't go through or I change my mind w/ it, then I will still major in Geo and minor in Ling. Becky made me realize that having an Arts degree really isn't that bad. Sure, there are some ppl who have B.Sc's or even MS's and they're only receptionists at law firms, but really, the jobs that suit me involve me starting at the bottom and working my way up. Not really in a traditional office, but you know - just different positions and responsibilities. And usually it doesn't matter what degree you have when you're hired for the "bottom" position anyway. Butchea. I do sort of have some sort of idea of what I'd like to do:
My dad mentioned my family friend's company. He built it himself and built it up slowly - only about 10 years ago (he's 50) did it become successful. Basically he organizes and holds conferences around North America. He finds well-known speakers and organizes their accommodation and wines and dines with them and yea - just organize conferences in which ppl pay hundreds to attend. I think his conferences have to do with alcohol ... but that's 'cause he's a drug and alcohol peer counselor for high schools. He also helps sell the speaker's books and makes profits off of that too etc. PLUS he gets tons of Air Miles from the expenses so his family gets to go on big trips often! His business is doing astoundingly well.
I think this is perfect for me. To be honest, I'm not confident (at this moment) to do this all myself because I don't know what exactly goes on - I'll need a team and experience. But I think this is definitely a great idea/goal b/c it not only has to do with event planning (which I enjoy), I get to TRAVEL (which I absolutely LOVE). Plus, this job is one that is really due to honest hard work where you may have to work hard at first, but you'll reap the rewards big time at the end. That is an accomplishment. What my dad mentioned, though, was that my family friend had to go back to school and get his MBa or else he would not have gained any credibility. The point I'm getting at is that THIS is why I want to continue with Business. I might not enjoy it now, but this goal definitely sounds appealing to me.
SO new end result: Joint Major in Geo and Business and a minor in Linguistics... we'll think about getting an MBa later...
Seems like a lot eh? I still have to talk to an academic advisor about all this, but it's what I thought up. Yes, I will become a professional student unfortunately... from my calculations, this is going to take me another 3 years... joy.
If my plan goes well, I will take 2 Linguistics and 2 Geography courses in the Fall, apply for Business again, get in, and take those horrid Business courses that have to do with numbers during my international exchange ('cause I get credit for them but they don't affect my GPA at home lol so all I have to do is pass).

Back On Track

Thank goodness for Becky -- I feel much less confused [refer to long essay-type from 2 posts ago] and I'm formulating a plan now. Whew relief!

I'm actually quite tired. Cleared away my school stuff and picked up my Sun Run package from the Sun Run fair.
Currently researching for school.

"This Item Is Completely Sold Out"

NOOOOO missed the Rue La La Chloe sale! My beloved Paddy (above) was $700 off regular price!
OK. $1,050 is still out of my range but... coulda woulda (or not) shoulda!

Lost Thoughts

My room... seriously looks like a tornado has hit it. No, even worse. It looks like it's been through some natural disaster AND the road runner did a run around. Meep meep.

[Warning: Seriousish stuff ahead. Proceed with caution]
Currently 3AM. I am not going to read this over so excuse the grammatical mistakes.

So I am officially done my Spring 2008 semester. I don't think I'm ever going to take only 3 courses ever again.. well, I can't anyway unless I want to take 6 years to complete this degree. I'm one of those ppl who "slack off" even more when they think they have more time... and yea.. can't say this was my best semester grade-wise.. at all. I've been thinking the past few weeks how much Geography (my current major) isn't for me. Sure, it can be interesting, but I cannot see myself doing anything Geography-related in the future. As much as we're being trained, I still can't really think like a Geographer. There are so many people in my class who look confident and know what they're talking about, what's happening, and how to respond appropriately to the geographical situations... yea. Not me.

I realized I didn't really give university very much thought - I just followed what ppl were doing... Ok - gotta go to university... I have no idea what I want to do in the future, but I'll just do something easy. Ok - I got an A in Geo in Grade 12, I'll just major in Geo. I get to university... ok Physical Geo - just like Gr 12 Geo. I did pretty well in that. Next. What? What's this Human Geography? I never knew such thing existed... ah.. only got a B in that course... what?? There's more? What happened to Physical Geo? Memorizing land forms and the weather? Oh.. yea not so interested in the higher level Physical courses... Let's check out the Human stuff. Social Geo eh? Sounds harmless... eeek got a B-. Maybe I'll give Human another chance with Econ Geo. OK... yea... I learned a bunch of things I'll never remember. Since I'm already halfway finished my Geo, I might as well keep doing it -- and that's why I'm still here but I wanted to do something sort of unexpected of me and different. Joint major in Geography and Business. That's pretty different isn't it? Only SFU has it. Why Business? I have really no idea. I never got higher than a B in any of the courses and I despise anything to do with numbers (xept Calc.. I wouldn't mind doing Calc again) or Econ... I'm only interested in the marketing department because it involves some creativity... and I'm not even sure what that entails!! Oh gosh.. I have to take so many courses I'm not looking forward to at ALL. Managerial Econ... Managerial accounting... oh my goodness... NO. I don't like. But after that, I just have to suffer through Intro to Finance and Data and Decisions II (aka Stats II) and the rest are fine... like Commerical Law, HR, Marketing, and Ethics. 15 courses in general including Geo courses to complete my Joint Major = 2 more years - no courses in the summer.

I sometimes wonder what ppl would think I'd major in just from looking at me. Actually, from my experience, most ppl thought I'd take after my dad (lawyer) and continue his practice. Flattering that they'd think I'd suit the job in a way, but no thanks. He's fine w/ that too. But seriously now... I'm in my 3rd year. I'm 4 or 5 courses away from completing my Geo major, and I still have to get into Business (which isn't looking like it's going to happen anytime soon). I need a backup plan if Business doesn't follow through... but I don't know what! This might add another year onto my university career. Oh well - I'm taking university so slowly anyway... but ah.. all that time... I'd rather be working. Maybe I'll just graduate with a Geo major. Sounds pretty pathetic to me, but hey, a degree is a degree. Plus, I'll be done next Spring! But... what about my exchange to Korea? I'm done all my electives... and if I take 4 courses in the Fall, I'll only need to take 1 more in Korea! But I'm paying for 4 courses worth on my exchange.. no matter what. Sooo I sort of need to either get into Business or find some other degree I might be remotely interested in! I think after Business, my next choice would be ........ yea I really don't know. I sort of don't want just an Arts degree. It just sounds too easy to get... which is true. It is - anyone can get an Arts degree. It's the Kin/Science/Business degrees that look good. That's why I was thinking maybe Kin.. but that involves science which I'm not good at.. and a lot of memorization my brain can't handle. What AM I good at? I'm sure I'm good at something... everyone is. I just haven't found it yet. I might not find out while I'm in university. I'm such an average student. I get so many B's you might as well call me B-b-b-bob. That's right, Bob w/ a stutter. (Gomenasai, it's 3:30AM and I'm trying to write all my thoughts.. and non-thoughts down)

So yea. I'm feeling quite lost. Some people just know what they want to do or they find their passion soon after they enter university. Some make mistakes and try another faculty in their 2nd or 3rd year, but they almost always seem to make the right decision the 2nd year. I'm undecided. I don't really like what I'm doing but I have no idea what I want to do. Sometimes I think I should have gone to BCIT to take some specialized course, but at the same time, I remind myself how lucky I am to take all these electives to acquire a more well-rounded view of the world. Actually, I'm also really grateful Geography has made me much more aware of the different and important issues across the globe I'm sure many, I mean, most full-grown adults wouldn't even know about. Don't ask me to name though - I couldn't tell you right on the spot.

I gotta say I'm feeling even more confused after writing this. I know my options, but I'm not sure which route to choose. I admit all this confusion is mostly a result from pleasing others - not really myself. I'm expected to get a degree in something that's not Arts. Ppl suggest that I just follow my heart... and I'd suggest that to other ppl who were in my situation too, but what? What is my heart saying? Honestly, it's saying that I want to be an event organizer... or flip houses or something of that sort. But what unstable jobs. Even if I think about what I'd do if it was all up to me, I still wouldn't know what I'd really do... because I still want to keep me satisfied with the choices.

I know it shouldn't really be a priority b/c it's a privilege more than anything, but going to Korea for exchange is quite high on the list. I really really really want to go. It's my current, attainable dream. But, this means I gotta take something more than Geography. AH decisions. I'll talk to my academic advisor next week. The best case scenario that would take ALL the worries off would be getting into Business... 'cause then I'd only have to maintain a 2.3 GPA which means smooth sailing for the rest of my career.

____________

Anyway, about some fun stuff -- hung out w/ Japn friends after my exam to eat AYCE Japanese food (did you know Sui Sha Ya is under construction?), games, sticker pics, closed mall-rat activity, BBT, games @ my house. Always an ab work out with them and totally took my mind off my mediocre term.

The Sun Run is in 2 days. Oh My.

Becky and I are picking up our packets tomorrow at the Sun Run fair. Gotta load music onto my mom's ipod for the run... but I need a case suitable for running (!!) Maybe music isn't a good idea but I need some other adrenaline booster that I can't ingest lol. My AA shipment is being shipped to my Uncle's house instead of mine so I'm probably not gonna get my shorts in time for the run. Gosh... I really don't have any other shorts to wear! I was relying on those... 'cause I just wear my PJ shorts when I run on my treadmill at home.
On Sat, I got my 1st Korean class from 10-12 w/ M, a lunch date w/ B @ Lombardos, and shopping... can't make Nevermind @ night 'cause gotta wake up early the next day.
Sunday, like I said, Sun Run + Cemetery w/ family.
Monday, brunch date w/ A and more shopping. Exchange program research for SURE that night.
Tuesday, up at school to talk to Academic Advisor - plan courses... start of Master Cleanse (10 days)
Wed, sign up for driving lessons! Practice Korean.

OH
Have you ever heard of Magibon or MRirian?
She's pretty popular on YouTube. She even has a fan blog. Basically she's this girl who doesn't have a drop of Asian blood in her... but she does her makeup a certain way to look somewhat Japanese (seriously, it's her very crooked teeth that make her look Japanese but you never see it 'cause her mouth is always closed)... but she looks pretty cute in her videos. Thing is, in her videos, all she does is look cute and stare with her huuuge eyes. Sounds scary doesn't it? It can be haha Sometimes she'll say a few phrases in Japanese out of the blue and she sounds pretty authentic 'cause she says it in this cute voice. ka-wa-ii~~
Here's a short 30 second clip of one of her popular home videos. The close-up might haunt me tonight in my dreams. She doesn't say anything in this one.
**
Anyway, people in Japan found out about her and sent her to Japan to be on this show where she got to meet her idol - some girl from the girl J-pop girl band (w/ a lot of members that fluctuate.. I forgot the term right now.. rotate?) called Morning Musume. SO interesting 'cause when she appeared on the show just looking like her regular self w/out the Japaneseified makeup, she looked quite different and.... not the cute/pretty girl we saw in the videos! Click HERE to see the real her. Makeup does wonders. I watched the Japanese clip - she's also surprisingly not as fluent in Japanese as she made us believe! That's ok though - she learned Japanese through watching dramas, TV shows, and listening to J-Pop.

I write a lot when I'm tired. It's 4:15 AM now. Oyasuminasai.

FINISHED Japanese... I can't believe it's probably the last time I'll ever see my sensei!! And the last thing I said to him, besides "thank you", when he was walking around, was, "I can't remember this character!!" out of frustration. I literally spent the last 15 minutes of the exam trying to write out every single katakana character to find out how 'to diet' was written... it was so easy at the end - I can't believe I couldn't get it right away haha and he laughed. The exam was a very fair exam. Of course it's one of those that left everyone saying "I wish I studied harder!" when they came out of the exam, but what's done is done. I only wish I practiced my Kanji (Chinese characters) more... I only got about 3/5 of them. Was starving after so the group went to eat @ Bubble World. Ssssalty stuff.

A few of my Japn buddies have already booked their flight to Japan in the middle of July for 2 weeks. I really want to go butttt no money. We've decided to start playing the lotto to increase my chances of going haha

I can't believe I'm going to learn a new language now! Korean! This Saturday! I'm hoping I learn it better than Japanese. I wonder what I'm going to do with my limited Japanese knowledge now? There's just so much more to learn! I'm so glad I got a chance to have a headstart at a new language... and I still want to be fluent, but I think I'm going to need some one-on-one training.

Face is needing some pampering... I don't know if it's all the junk I've been eating the past week and a half (some serious junk food mannn minus the grease) and/or "stress" (I don't feel stressed but apparently my body feels it 'cause it's constantly craving sweets) and/or the less than adequate/interrupted sleep I've been getting the past week.5, that I'm breaking out a little... not to mention I feel like I've gained 5 from the past week just on my face as a result. Thank goodness I'm venturing on the Master Cleanse in 5 days... to detox my system and cleanse it from all these impurities. My right side of my face feels a bit bumpy and itchy... even my neck. I wonder what I'm allergic to... maybe something from Bubble World... it's so salty I just drank almost a litre of water and I'm still thirsty!!

I wish I had enough money to take advantage of ShopBop's TaxBreak promotion!

I found out what ADIDAS (the brand) originally stood for - All Day I Dream About Soccer. That's why you see so many soccer-related Adidas merch. Now, it's All Day I Dream About Sports.

Current lusts: Gold jewelry in multiples (bracelets and rings), patterned dresses, and bandeau swim suits.
Currently looking into: hair styling products and a 1.5 - 2 inch curling iron.
Credit to FeetManSeoul.com -- I like this girl's vibe and I even think that snake tattoo on her thigh is really neat. Love the dress and hair.
My hair is at such a blah stage right now - it's in that between length that's not short enough to be cute and chic, and not long enough to be pretty and feminine. Darnit I want those extensions and I want my hair that colour! Ppl have been saying I look so different w/ black hair and I ain't taking that as a good thing.

I'm seeing so many cute, short hairstyles these days! I'd love to have one for the summer but I think long hair suits me better... though I never change my hair - it's always so similar (xept for the time I permed it). I said I'd never perm it again 'cause it's such a pain to grow out, but I think I just might do another perm... not the same perm I did last time, but maybe the digital perm that's less damaging on your hair and looks more natural... and yea just nicer. But I'd just perm 3/5ths of my hair instead of the whole thing.

Another cute short hair pic from a YesStyle model.
Is it a bit sad knowing where every piece (and the relative price) of two outfits The Hills stars, Heidi, wore on two separate days? lol... or maybe it's just a coincidence she happens to buy from the online stores I browse around... like Intermix and ShopBop... butchea. I thought it was a bit freaky. This is what takes up all the space in my brain.. hmm maybe this is saying something about my future job... future contestant on The Price is Right anyone? loll j/k

This weekend is pretty booked, and then I have exactly one week of uneventfulness socially but that's OK - I really have to crack down on the exchange application. And then starting April 30th, everyone is pretty much out of school and want to jam everything before summer school gets hectic so I'm pretty much busy until I come back from LA on May 20th... but that's when I really have to crack down on a job... unless I miraculously land one before I leave.

Anyway it's 2:30AM and I'm so exhausted I can't even think of a title. I decided to take the route of an artist.

I'm Outta Time And All I Got Is 4 Minutes

Time is waitin'
We've only got 4 minutes to save the world!
No hesitatin'
Grab a boy

Go grab a girl
Time is waitin'

We only got 4 minutes to save the world!
No hesitatin'
We only got 4 minutes (huh) 4 minutes
So keep it up keep it up
Don't be a pri(hey)ma donna
You gotta get em a heart

Tick tock tick tock tick tock

What a catchy songggggg
Madonna + Justin Timberlake ft. Timbaland
4 Minutes To Save The World

I'm kind of surprised none of them showed their dance talent in this MV... and maybe a better storyline? Madge does look good for her age I must admit.

I got my Birks in the mail today! I've been wearing them around the house ever since. My foot has totally molded to the shape of the shoe now. At first, all the bumps and grooves in the shoe makes my feet feel pretty weird, butchea - you get used to it fast. Only thing is that I make a LOT of noise when I go down stairs... but I do that with all shoes anyway... but these make even more noise haha.
It took 4 days to ship! Quick like fox.

I was researching a few event-planning companies in Vancouver and the one that caught my eye was Dream Group Productions Inc.
They specialize in wedding planning but seem quite experienced in the special-event field too.
Too bad they say they're receiving such a huge influx of resumes - everyone and their gerbil wants to work for them and it's no wonder. Huff puff sigh - it'd be so great to work for them.. maybe in the future. They'd need someone full time.

Oh wow - this girl sent me an invitation to Rue La La which is like Gilt Groupe and Haute Look. "An exclusive, invitation-only online destination where Members discover premier-brand, private sale Boutiques, each open for just a brief window of time."
I just made an account and BCBG Max Azria is currently featured! Some real cute stuff but most of them are sold out 'cause it's the 2nd day into the sale. Shockingly cheap! The $168 dresses are only $58 etc.!! If you want an invitation, let me know! They're featuring Chloe (ahhh my Paddy!!) this Friday (18th)!

I decided to check Tokyo Street Style. Wow this girl looks so lux! Love her coat. It's not a surprise she's found shopping in one of the ritziest districts in Tokyo, Ginza.
